Holidays:

in Custom and Tradition:

"Toils Day? What's so special 'bout it? Never gotten a thing for me work in the mines but coal in the lungs, why should anyone else be treated different? I've still got 12 hours left of me shift so I can eat tonight, go get piss drunk and pretend ye care 'bout us somewhere else." -Anonymous Interview, Halt-Cliff Herald, 483 CA.

Holidays on Everwealth are sadly for many the only times a year where there is genuine cause for celebration. Where most folk are usually jaded, if not wrathful from the poor hand they were dealt, brought into a dysfunctional society without their consent, lucky to be able to read if not brutalized in some capacity; Even the most miserly curmudgeon's are likely to at-least crack a sad smile in silent celebration of the holiday season. These special occasions, days of recreational festivities held in honor of the Gods, notable past events, important people and the like, are a treasured element of Everwealth culture, some of them dating all-the-way back to the early Lost Ages, though the fires of the Great Schism may have wiped away their original significance. One may look forward-to the annual Krissmas feast in celebration of giving and togetherness, the jubilant festivals to reign in another new year, a chance to hold Galas to venerate the country on Ram's Day or just any day at-all where they don't have to work their fingers to the bone. There are dozens of Holidays that may pique your interest, at least enough so to go out and purchase a Gnomish Candied-Apple. But, in this cynical author's opinion, you should still be thankful of your privilege to join-in on the festivities, as some facets of society do not have the good-fortune of enough coin or amicable employers to allow them a moment of rest.

“The cold takes many things from us, time, warmth, even hope. But every 25th of Turquoise, we take a little back. With song, and roast, and firelight bright enough to hold off the dark.” -Thommel Hark, Chronicler of Catcher’s Rest, 414 CA
