Economy

"Slavery is a nasty word, I prefer Goblin volunteers." -Sir Christophe Columb, ancient explorer who 'discovered' Archtun.

Introduction:
Monetary income is a capital concern for the citizens of Everwealth, considering the majority of its citizens have such limited income they must grow their own food to guarantee their next meal. The economy of Everwealth is Capitalistic, by Scholar's Guild Definition- "An economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit." The Government funds it's infrastructure, it's defenses, or Royal retreats to a hot spring, by taxation of said business profits, wages, housing, paper, tea, loitering... what have you. So long as these taxes are paid, aside from loose safety laws, The Monarchy offers little restriction on starting/operating businesses, what goods one may purchase or sell, what the prices for these goods are and so on. Death and Taxes aside, those with enough disposable income will find themselves at a far more advantageous position than the common citizen, able to use the Gold coins lining their purses to fill their pantries with whatever foodstuffs they require, their waterskins whenever they thirst, and provide harbor from the wars and wicked ghouls of the land with a roof overhead. If one is desperate for money, Everwealth's former Elfese lords would leave much behind in the woodlands during their exile from the land, which though dangerous to collect may be sold for often large sums of said currency upon successful recovery. Or perhaps the desparate may forcefully obtain their income from the purses of their fellow folk, as many here are often forced to do with no work and no aid from their selfish lords. Most on Everwealth though would rather not chance death chasing after run-down hoards in the woods guarded by monstrous predators, or risk a trip to the gallows gifted with a "long fall and a short stop" should they be caught in the act of theft, content instead to resign themselves to often grueling labor roles to make ends meet, wherever what little work available may be found at least.

Currency:
Capras
, the backbone of the economy, these golden coins inscribed with the image of a ram's horn on one side and a ram's hoof on the other, often referred to simply as "Gold" are the standard form of currency on Everwealth. Government minted and often accepted by border countries as well, the widespread and numerous markets of Everwealth with their collective resources cementing Capras as a secure alternative should that be all you carry when traveling abroad. Many folk spend their entire lives in search of their share of Capras, rightly so arguably, they feed them, clothe them, buy them whores and ornate hunting rifles; Whereas those with few Capras to their names are prone to sacrificing meals, shelter, sometimes their very lives, suffering so greatly having to go without for so long that those addled by poverty may just do unspeakable things to get them, so be sure to budget wisely.

Income and Wealth:
The northernmost of the three lands, is considered to be the most economically stable among them, dozens if not hundreds of varying markets fill the cities and line the roads, though this specific abundance does not come without issues. While the free market provides the government with steady income from taxation of it's many businesses, these taxes now steadily rising to fund the war effort, coupled with dense competition often sees many businesses struggling to get by, "sailing on a sinking ship" as it were, if not forced to close up shop for good from the economic strain. The common citizen is also victim to debilitating economic circumstances, taxes on their wages and the disproportionately large density of the population compared to the scarce amount of available work has forced many into a beggar's shoes or into a life of crime just to survive.
Trade and Resources:
Everwealth, collectively, possesses many coveted resources neighboring and distant nations alike are more than willing to pay Everwealth's costly tariff fees to get. Over half of Kathar is absent of drinkable water for instance, having to send for it by Everwealth trade caravans from places like Lough Icewind. Fertile soils from the plains shipped to the western desert islands of Jiebach, Dwarfish firearms and precision implements few others can craft, right down to the mounds of clay pulled from the Valley of Scars. While there are a great many resources the Government has at it's disposal, most citizens of the country will likely have to dedicate a 6 months journey through dangerous, unguarded woodland roads to get something, the country's scattered resources gladly shipped and transported hundreds of miles if the government profits from doing so but... not so much otherwise.
