Establishments

Taverns

The Rusty Pickaxe

The Rusty Pickaxe is a small, warm inn and tavern near the west gate of Ezther. Run by a dwarven woman Rutha and her nephew Cilis, the establishment's main business lies in taking in travellers from Mullay looking for a place to rest their legs and stable their horses.

Wherewithall

Wherewithall is the richest drinking hole in town as a result of its high-stakes gambling ring. The bar's proprietor is an old imperial nobleman named Archer Mel; a part of the Mel family in town. The bar is quite aristocratic and most consider it unpleasantly haughty.

The Dockside Brewery

The Dockside Brewery borders the docks in Ezther. The brewery-adjoined bar run by an Arcadellia-worshipping man named Worthin is used largely as a den for the dockworkers when off-shift and sports Worthin's unique brew of ale: "The Ocean's Fur".

The Jackal's Den

Primarily an inn but also offering catering, the Jackal's Den is another traveller's dive sitting on the main trading road that runs north-to-south along the river Till. It is run by a Sol'siellan man named Ori'vel and is assisted by his wife and two daughters.

Squaler's Shade

The Squaler's Shade lies in the shadow of the western wall of Ezther. It is run by a sly halfling woman named Pikla and is one of two facilities lisenced to house gambling affairs. Unlike the Wherewithall, though, the Squaler's Shade is a lower-stakes, shadier affair.

The House on Main

Arguably the most respectible establishment in town to the common man, the House on Main is a large, three story inn and tavern that offers a cushy experience and chilled beers. The bar is run and managed by a woman named Lerith.

Businesses

The Golden Thread

Run by an aged human man named Penn, the Golden Thread is a mid-to-high-end tailor. Penn runs the business alone and is the only tailor that works there making his work slow sometimes. Regardless, his goods are of undeniable quality and lower to middle-class nobles often make use of his premium services.

Guilds

The city of Ezther is the business center of Vedenhale and most of this business is run out of one major building in the eastend: The Guild Hall.
The guild hall is a large, three story building with an expansive, open hall as its entry room. This room has scattered tables and is catered by a bar on one wall. In this room, a large majority of all business dealings in Ezther are performed.

The Union of Lerthis

Named after the founder of the trade route that runs from Rhail to Delborough, the Union of Lerthis is a burgeoning organization with the goal of introducing standardization of trade across Vedenhale, thus reducing the impact that bartering has on the merchantile industry. While they are fairly well established in Rhail, their influence in Ezther is subdued by the local business which protest to the union -some out of principle, others because they do not believe it beneficial.
Most view the union as a group of hopeless idealists with visions of an impossible future, however their growth is indisputable. Wether or not their system is really the best way forward remains to be seen.

The Cloak of Arms

A regular run-in for those who travel the roads trading, the Cloak of Arms is the largest mercenary guild in Vedenhale, offering their services for hire mainly to travelling merchants who feel they need a helping hand and watchful eye. Members of the guild are supplied with papers validating their membership to be checked by those who associate with the Cloak of Arms. This was introduced to avoid people posing as being from the guild but having nefarious goals.

The Midlands Valley Trading Company

The Midlands Valley Trading Company, or 'The Midlands Company' for short is a guild of merchants who operate within Vedenhale distributing local goods and imported goods to the towns and villages of the county. It is very standard for any hauling job to go through them and most merchants in the county are associated with or directly lisenced through them.

The Outer Boatway Centre

Utilization of The Boatway Centre is the primary method of getting goods out of Vedenhale. The organization proper is run out of Rhail, but a branch of its management exists in Ezther to manage the dock transport down the river Till to their main distribution center. The Outer Boatway also sometimes takes shipments upstream for trade within Vedenhale, but that is far less common.

The Windsman's Hoof

The WIndsman's Hoof is a company of riders that hire out their services in local delivery. They operate mainly out of Vedenhale but have been known to visit the other counties of Meseline.

The Lancer Agency

The Lancer Agency are a partner company of the Windsman's Hoof. The two often work together to send messages and parcels long-distance to places outwith Vedenhale and Meseline. The company also offers local traveling services through Vedenhale and their coaches can occasionally be found traveling mainly up and down the river Till.
