Wurak Everbleed

Lord Commander of the City Watch Wurak Everbleed

"He is an efficient and determined man, that I must give to him. Rarely you see anyone accomplish so much. I mean, no one has been able to rise to nobility since the foundation of Disoen, but that sneaky murderer managed to achieve just that. And not only that, nowadays he is the most trusted advisor to the king. There is very few things that happen in this city without his agreement. That makes you wonder, is he really that dedicated to well-being of the city, or does he have some alterior motives. I'm just saying, but he used to be one of those savages that dream of nothing more than the downfall of Disoen. I'm not telling you what to think, just draw your own conclusions."

    Personal history

Wurak Everbleed was born in 45th of Brightness in year 973 of 12th Millenia, in a small nomadic tribe of hobgoblins living in the western parts of the Gurugada Greatwood. The tribe was one of the few that had sworn to destroy Disoen. Thus Wurak was taught from a young age to do one thing: kill and plunder. Wurak was never the most ferocious of the tribes warriors, but more and more he himself began to develope a good mind for strategies. His keen mind and tactical approach to matters gave him recognition in the tribe, and they began to rely more and more on his battle plans. However, his lack in martial prowess (in the scale of other members of the tribe) kept him from taking the larger role in the tribes hierarchy.   Another reason Wurak did not became more prominent figure in the tribe, was the tribes leader, Glaga Fourfang. She was a renowned warrior in the tribe and her skills where recognized by military of Disoen and other tribes of the forest. Glaga was also skilled tactician, and before Wurak her strategies where the ones the tribe relied on. Glaga saw Wurak as a threat to her authority, and thus she did everything she could to keep Wurak from gaining the trust of the tribe. Glagas actions where obvious to Wurak, and he mostly agreed to stay in less prominent role in the tribe.   In year 8 of 13th Millenia, the tribe was planning a great raid to a merchant caravan headed to Disoen. The scout reports told that the caravan was carrying great amounts of gold and goods, and that its guards where fewer than anticipated. Glaga made her plans and contacted other tribes in order to make sure that raid was succesfull. Wurak, sensing that something was wrong, warned Glaga to draw of the attack, but she saw it as a challenge of her authority, and doubled her efforts to succeed in the raid. Wurak wanted to refuse to join the warband, but Glaga ordered him to join them, and Wurak had no say in the matter.   Wuraks had been right in his predictions, as the caravan turned out to be a trap to lure out the tribes in order to protect the trade route between Tilhal and Disoen. As the Hobgoblins charged the caravan, they were met with combined forces of Tilhal and Disoen, and were decimated. Wurak, reluctant to join the fray, was spared in the initial onslaught. As the defeat was imminent, Glaga ordered all her warriors to fight with honor and to die so she could escape the field. Wurak was one of the group to hold the line as the rest of the tribe made thei retreat.   Angered by the arrogance and actions of Glaga, Wurak decided to deny orders. As the enemy charged forward and the last line of hobgoblins were prepared to die, Wurak walked forward, threw down his weapon and surrendered. This proved to save his life, as the harrying force was comprised of mostly disoenian soldiers, who were encouraged to take prisoners sooner than to kill their foes. In the end, however, Wurak was the only survivor of the defenceforce, as his comrades died cursing Wurak for his cowardice.   Wurak was taken captive, and brought to Disoen in chains. He was suprised how all the lies he had been told by the tribe about Disoen. In Disoen Wurak was brought to the newly throned king Ooglabuck Peacemonger, who was intrigued by a tribal warrior who had surrendered rather than sacrife himself. Wurak explained his actions, and in the end the king pardoned him from his crimes against the city and its people, ang granted him a permit to stay in the city.   The kindness of the king moved Wurak, and there he swore to himself to serve king Ooglabuck. He enlisted in the City Watch, and very soon his skills as a leader and tactician where recognized, although many where not pleased that a former savage managed to rise in the ranks so fast. Despite the suspicions Wurak did has he had sworn, serve the king with everything he had. His achievements where watched closely by the king himself, as the young ruler was fascinated by the tenacity that Wurak showed.   Only after a year after his arrival to Disoen, Wurak was offered a rare opportunity by Ooglabuck to become the next Lord Commander of the City Watch. This shocked meny in the city, for such position had always been reserved to a member of the Ruling Council. Ooglabuck, knowing this well, decided to promote Wurak to a nobility and ave him a seat in the Council. Anything like this hadn't been done in the history of Disoen. Many fought vigorously against this, but among the citizens and the members of the Council there where many, who saw this as a opportunity for better Disoen where all races could live in harmony together, despite the past. In the end the Council voted about this promotion, achieving the tie in the vote, but with the king voting for Wurak, he was granted the title of noble.   After this Wurak has served the king and the city. Many still resent him, but the king trust him greatly, and often Wurak has acted as Ooglabuck personal advisor in topics other than city's defences. More often he is considered to be more realistic of the two, and his opinion usually counterbalance king's overoptimistic and peacefull methods. More than once Wurak has also acted on his own, without informing the Council or even the king. All of these "operations", that have been revealed, have benefitted the city-state, the most famous being the revealing of the illegal businesses of Burgot Ynitsedon. Wurak has been reprimanded for these actions tme and time again, but he has the trust of the king, and so despite the demands, he remains the Lord Commander of the City Watch.

    Education

Wurak was trained excessively in the arts of warfare and martial prowess by his tribe. After arriving to Disoen, he showed keen interest in learning languages and writing.
