Evernight Pantheon
"First there was Light, Darkness and Power. And by these, everything was created."
Unknown sage
Evernight pantheon consists of 27 gods and goddesses. The 3 highgods are Lyraki Daylord, god of light, day and sun, Criakin Nightlady, goddess of night and darkness, and Mukaran the Sleeper, god of magic. These three gods created the world including other deities of pantheon. Pantheon also includes a foreign divine entity called the Outsider. He's not native to Evernight, and even the highgods do not know how and why he has arrived to Evernight.
Pantheon is divided roughly to three groups. The Court of Light follows Daylord and obeys his orders even when they would differ from their own goals. The Court of Darkness are somewhat obedient to Nightlady, but every one of them is ready to betray each other should the moment arise. The Courtless are neither aligned with either of these sides, nor have they formed alliances amongst each other. They usually have dealings with both sides of divine, whenever other side opposes or interest them.
All the gods are active, although it is very rare that they manifest themselves upon lands of Evernight. The only way for a god to enter Evernight and influence it directly is to take the avatar form, which will weaken them as well as make them vulnerable. There is an unsaid agreement within all the gods, good, evil and neutral alike, that mortals should be left to deal with each other. This agreement does not prevent gods from lending their power to mortals if they are about to advance deity’s goals.
Only Mukaran, god of magic, is different. Right after the creation of the Evernight he fell asleep and is yet to awake. He has only few worshippers, for he is unable to lend his divine aid to mortals. Most of the common people of the Evernight do not even know of his existance. In his sleep Mukaran dreams, and those dreams are what powers all the magic of the world of Evernight. Everyone can seek out this power and use it to their own ends. Should Mukaran someday wake up from his slumber, the magic as it is known, would end.
