Steel Samurai
Samurai is the Iron Giant utilized by the Third Empire of Evermore. It is piloted by six of the Thousand Blades working in concert. The pilot samurai insert their swords into the heart of the beast and will its actions, fusing their minds and those of the swords. In doing so, they sacrifice their autonomy for the duration of the run and risk significant damage to their minds. Any six Blades can pilot the mech.
It stands tallest of all Giants, though barely. Shaped as a humanoid with a dragon's head and dressed in a samurai's armor, complete with a helmet decorated with a crescent moon symbolizing the end of an era. It has a giant sword, a nodachi named Steel. The identifying crest of the Empire on its chest has changed over the generations, currently bearing the stylized five-ringed crown of Emperor Richard VIII.
While it currently stands watch over the northern shores of the Empire, it like all giants was created to fight powerful dragon-mages during the Dragon Wars of the third century. Samurai is known to have destroyed no less than seven elder dragons without assistance, and with the aid of the Confederate giant Dusk Maiden was able to dramatically wound the gold dragon Hypernius in the Battle for Bronzehold near the end of the war.
Power Generation
Samurai is studded with networked internal mana batteries in the modern age, a refit following the Final Spell. They are modified to be powered by the mystic energy of the swords of Blades rather than spells cast by a mage.
Propulsion
As all Striders, Samurai moves on legs, in its case two like a humanoid. The enchanted steel cables that make up the limbs and joints of the machine allow it a very human-like range of movement, and it is able to travel at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour without causing strain to its pilots. At maximum it can move four times that for up to an hour.
Weapons & Armament
The only weapon a Blade needs is their mighty sword, and the mech they use is no different. It weilds an enormous starmetal nodachi named Steel. Technically, the mech itself is just Samurai, but in Blades tradition there is no distinction made between warrior and sword. The metal warrior can also unleash a draconic roar so loud it can knock airships off course, rattle an enemy mech like an oversized bell, and of course kill men on the ground with sheer force of noise.
Armor and defense
Over the corded steel mech, a titanic suit of magically reinforced ō-yoroi style armor is fitted to the giant.
Communication Tools & Systems
By tradition only, the team of six Blades piloting the mech must include a sword with communication powers, or failing that a powerful mage-samurai. Theoretically they could send a message to everyone in a five mile radius with the roar of the machine, but that hasn't been tested.
Sensors
The eyes of the mech are enchanted and part of the battery network. Blades piloting Samurai see through its eyes, smell through its nose, and hear through its ears. With some effort they are able to percieve out of any part of the mech that houses a modified mana battery, but this can be disorienting.
