Silverlight

Government

Silverlight is technically the domain of House Silverlight, who for generations have also been the leaders of all Lancaster. As such, rather than the head of household, traditionally Silverlight is ruled over by second children of Silverlight. When this is impossible, or otherwise in times of war or emergency, control of Silverlight is typically handed over to the trusted steward of the Castle of All Kings.

Defences

The thousand foot high walls and terraces around Silverlight makes conquering the city damn near impossible, though of course the Empire has done it before. Every hundred feet of the walls is armed with the famed Silverlight Scorpion- modified ballistae designed to be able to pierce even the thickest of armor. Finally, when all else fails, the castle and all other parts of the Fifth Tier are able to be completely isolated by destroying the weeping bridge, cutting off access to the plateau that overlooks the city.

Infrastructure

The city of Silverlight is ancient, build in a spiral pattern outwards around the Castle of All Kings. The Galau River ends at the great cliffs before the castle, and traffic up and down the river through the five tiers of the mountain city is common. The five tiers themselves descend downward from the castle, in perfectly measured thousand-foot sloped terraces. Lifts both mechanical and magical carry cargo and people to the different tiers, and the hot air balloon is more popular in Silverlight than anywhere else in the world.

Guilds and Factions

The Circle of Good Faith makes it's home in Silverlight, headquartered at the Temple of the Fifteen. Speaking of, the Temple of the Fifteen is the largest omnitheistic temple on the continent is found here. Of course, the Hall of Champions, the famed meeting hall of the various knightly orders is located on the fourth tier, as well as the Silverlight Arena, which is backlit by the endlessly falling waters going near the plateau.
