Arya Thorne
Lady Arya Jeyne Thorne
Lady Arya Thorne is the current ruler of House Thorne, lords of Faeriedown and wardens of Lancaster's wild places.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Lady Arya spends a large sum each year on magical remedies for aging, ensuring she stays looking young and beautiful forever.
Identifying Characteristics
Like all members of House Thorne, Lady Arya has bright malachite-colored eyes that any of those familiar with Lancaster ancestries could easily identify as marking the blood of Thorne. Her long hair has become iconic to her image as well, it is rumored she's never had it cut.
Special abilities
While not a true cleric, Lady Arya has been blessed with limited divine abilities by the Court of Avalon. She can teleport herself short distances, spontaneously create healing potions, and in times of extreme stress can heal herself and those around her with divine magic.
Apparel & Accessories
The colors of House Thorne are a checkered black and white, and as such most of Lady Arya's outfits are black and all of her accessories are white with a rose theme. She is always researching the latest fashions and keeps a retinue of designers and sewers, ensuring she always has new and exciting outfits to choose from.
Specialized Equipment
Though not a knight herself, Lady Arya is trained in combat. She goes into battle armed with a bastard sword given to her by her grandfather, named Hound's Tooth and identified by it's dog-head pommel and rose-shaped crossguard. She wears plain plate armor under a red Lancaster tabard decorated with the black and white of Thorne, and carries a kite shield marked with the black and white squares. While neither her sword nor armor is enchanted, her gauntlets are able to deliver devastating electric blows.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Lady Arya was born the second daughter of House Thorne, and never quite believed she would take the household from her father. At a young age, she joined The Tower of the Ancients as an adventurer and made a bit of a name for herself and her House, until the union of Lancaster and The Empire saw her sister wed to Prince Lawrence, and as such the responsibilities of Thorne fell to her. She returned to Faeriedown pregnant, and gave birth to a Half-Elf son, Lawrence Thorne. Since then she has used her infamy as a social weapon wherever possible, often using her reputation to seduce lords and gain favors to increase the standing of House Thorne.
Sexuality
Lady Arya is known to be promiscuous (though she does work to ensure rumors of this are exaggerated), and has shared a bed with many men, women, and agendered supernatural beings. Privately, she prefers the company of gentlemen.
Education
As a noble lady of Lancaster, Arya was given an education nearly on par with those common folk who become wizards. She is well-versed in history, tactics, and mathematics.
Employment
Before taking over the responsibility of running Faeriedown and it's surrounding areas, Lady Arya worked as an adventurer for The Tower, sent with teams of like-minded individuals to solve problems for coin or delve into dangerous ruins to record the mysteries found within.
Accomplishments & Achievements
While a member of The Tower of the Ancients, Lady Arya become one of only ten people to ever reach the fortieth level of The Tower itself- a near-mythic feat for accomplished adventurers, but Arya achieved it on her first and only try.
As the leader of Faeriedown, Lady Arya has only participated in a handful of battles thanks to the centralized location of the city, but has never lost as a commander. Most well-known was her victory in the Battle of Faeriedown, when she led her men against a horde of darkfae that outnumbered them significantly. "The Bleeding Flower" is a popular ballad describing Arya's refusal to back down, even when severely injured.
Morality & Philosophy
Lady Arya is a firm believer in the Teachings of Avalon, a philosophical code that states that good people can be self-serving, so long as they do not harm any in their quest for power. She goes out of her way to live by this code, that so long as she does no actual harm to anyone her continued societal climb is perfectly acceptable.
Taboos
No matter what gossip she learns, Lady Arya will never use another's children against them no matter the circumstances.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
To maintain the standing of House Thorne, to protect her children, to remain young eternally
Savvies & Ineptitudes
Lady Arya is always up to date on the latest gossip and has a knack for socially disarming her fellow nobility. She is a natural leader capable of inspiring her soldiers in the most dire of battles, and has become legendary for doing so during the Battle of Faeriedown, when she led the forces of House Thorne and a civilian militia against a horde of darkfae.
However, she is easily shut down on the social battlefield when she has not had time to prepare. Her legendary charms seem absent when dealing with nobility she has never heard of before, especially if they make any sort of implication about her bastard sons.
Vices & Personality flaws
It is a well-known fact among the courts of Lancaster that Lady Arya is vain and her high opinion of herself can be easily exploited. She is especially susceptible to flattery. To help maintain her image of absolute and ageless beauty, Lady Arya is known to take many lovers to the point of scandal.
Social
Contacts & Relations
Though it is technically beneath her station, Lady Arya maintains a friendly relationship with her old associates at The Tower in addition to her necessary regular association with other Lancaster nobility. She has particular ties to Houses Grimm, Tilgen, and Silverlight.
Family Ties
Through the marriage of Arya's sister Terra to Lawrence Skalxien, House Thorne is bound by blood and law to the Imperial Throne. She is the aunt of Beggar Queen Grace Skalxien, and the mother of pirate lord Percival Thorne and Imperial Navy officer Lawrence Thorne. She maintains a loving relationship with her grandfather, Lord Percival Grimm, and her cousin Sir Perilous Grimm.
Religious Views
The House of Thorne has always been tied more heavily to the Fairy Cults than to the Cult of the Fifteen, and Lady Arya is no exception. She is a worshipper of the Court of Avalon.
Hobbies & Pets
Lady Arya is well known to spend much of her free time baking. She is said to not be very good at it, but claims that the process helps to clear her head and help her focus. She keeps an extensive collection of books on the subject, and makes it a habit to invite famous bakers to her estate once a year. Though she does not particularly enjoy it, she also practices rose gardening- a Thorne tradition.
Wealth & Financial state
As the Lady of Faeriedown, Arya has access to her family's vast fortune- which she is sure to evenly distribute amongst her own children as well as her extended family. Most notably, the Thorne estate is home to the Gilded Garden, an indoor rose garden full of flowers crafted from gemstones and precious metals.
