Maan'ullin Material in Evenea | World Anvil

Maan'ullin (Mahn oolin)

Maan'ullin is a purple-colored metal that is found rarely throughout Evenea and commonly on Endel. Sturdy, kinetic dampening, and easily workable, Maan'ullin is a useful material that is used in many different applications.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Maan'ullin is a considerably hefty material with similarities to palladium in density. Unique to this metal is the ability to reroute kinetic force, which can be combined with other materials to create powerful technology and magic items. Also due to a similar melting point to iron, it is much easier to work with than harder materials, like ebony and enchanted ice.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Maan'ullin has an affinity for spatial enchantments, making it a viable material for force weapons, damage-dampening armor, and portals.

Geology & Geography

This metal is rare, but not as much as ebony. It is uncommonly found in parts of Urrudea and Yandaijar, but elswhere it is rare.

Origin & Source

It is mined as an ore and can be found alongside sileeron, a crystal that heightens kinetic energy.

History & Usage

History

Though it has been used as long as iron has on Evenea, its true power wasn't well known until the height of the Diivanne. Since then, Dvardai and Naaludai have further explored the power of this metal alongside other races, creating powerful siegecraft and other tech. The Ende Rii have used it for millions of years for powerful siege weapons, shock armor, and other important innovations.

Discovery

Valdorim's main innovator Miinsiivonun is the first recorded to find the unique properties of this material, though use of this material runs even farther back to before the lands of Nethyr sunk into the sea and the lands of Aethyr made their way into the sky.

Everyday use

It is seen in an assortment of uses, from weapons and armor to siege weapons and firearms.

Industrial Use

It is a key ingredient in making Bindium, a alloy that has the ability to bind spiritual forces within it.

Refinement

It needs to be refined from its ore.

Hazards

When its refined from its ore, significant inclusions of arsenic and other noxious metals cause refiners to wear masks and keep away from the general public.

Environmental Impact

The refining of this metal can be devastating on local wildlife, who drink contaminated water or eat plants filled with arsenic.

Reusability & Recycling

It can be reused, as it is metal. Metal can be reforged.

Distribution

Trade & Market

Maan'ullin is a commodity found throughout Eveynjar, but Urrudea is a leading producer which has extensive mines.

Law & Regulation

Maan'ullin has few regulations in most lands, however its manufacturing has multiple regulations due to the dangerous hazards it presents.
