Bedrockium Material in Evenea | World Anvil

Bedrockium

Although not a true alloy or metal, Bedrockium is a composite mineral that can be used to make different items. However this material is hard to work with and extremely dense, so most don't use it.  For those that do manage to work the material, it is a material like no other.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Bedrockium appears as a smooth speckled rock-like substance that possesses foldability like metal but the rigidity of stone. Due to this, it can't be worked by simple tools, but rather requires the complex tools and machinery of the Diivanne, who knew how to work the material.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Artifacts made with this material are heavy, and require great strength to wield. However, Bedrockium bends the gravity of the world around it, causing enemies to be forced under the strain of the world itself, or cause the world around the wielder to levitate.

Geology & Geography

Bedrockium is a common substance found in every major region of Eveynjar.

History & Usage

History

Originally discovered by Subdrakken Diivanne, the material was used more for building than for actual arms and armor. However, when a curious Metallurgistian tried discovering the minerals secrets, she discovered that it could bend gravity to her will. Subdrakken made a specialty of using the material until the Fall of Valoreum. Recently, a group of Syndai and Naaludai have managed to make a crude version of Bedrockium artifacts that manage to create similar effects to those of the Diivanne.

Everyday use

Due to its heaviness and extremely hard surface, Bedrockium is used mainly as a building material, albeit mainly for foundations. However, little bits of it are used as tools for cutting gems, inscribing objects, and other small tools.

Cultural Significance and Usage

Subdrakken and Syndai believe that it was Rymill who gave them the know-how to craft with the material.

Reusability & Recycling

Due to its incredible hardness and heat-tolerance, once its cut it cannot be re-melted into a different form, though if it is big enough, it can be formed into a different form.

Distribution

Trade & Market

Due to its heaviness and commonness no nation trades it and has a market cost of 10gp for a cube meter of the stuff due to its weight more than its rarity.
