Solid Source

Source can be divided into three states: living solid, dead solid and fluid, but can only be considered a material in its solid form. Natural occurences of Solid Source are seen in the bodies of Gógari (living), and in pinnacles of black crystals as part of the geological landscape (dead).

Appearance

Dead Source manifests in crystalline structures, usually opaque black. Some may appear with a brown or violet tint. It may be mistaken with obsidian but, unlike obsidian, Source has extremely low reflectivity, even when polished. The most well-known examples are the Source Towers or Purge Fortresses which were manipulated to provide shelter and defence by the The Purgers   Living Source takes on much more diverse appearances determined by the life that inhabits it. As the only known example of living Source are the Gógari it is difficult to study. The Purgers are said to have done just that, but any recording of their findings are probably locked up in their forstresses which remain unbreachable. Even before their disappearance, the Purgers shared none of the secrets to their power.

Properties

Solid Source is a conductor of Fluid Source which is the essential element of sorcery, used both by Gógari and human sorcerers. It is higly resistant to temperature changes. Living Source flakes into small particles like ash when harmed but reconstructs flawlessly after a few days. Dead solid Source is nearly indestructible and seemingly impossible to shape without the influence of Source, giving rise to the suspicion that Purgers broke their own mandates in the interest of power.

Usage

History records tells of how humans have worshipped manifistations of solid Source in its dead form for centuries. The Old Religion of the Puritans even treated some Gógari as gods and made sacrifices in their name. These practices were brought to a halt when the Purgers gained power over the material and managed to forge them into weapons through Assimilation. Their technology proved that Source held no divinity that could not be tamed. Assimilant tools were used to carve and mould Source into art and weapons. Unlike iron, assimilant weapons were able to seriously harm the Gógari and obstructed their healing.
