Descendants of Eith

The Descendants of Eith are families who can trace their lineage over 2,000 years back to the The Dark Years. They are the founders and rulers of the Fedheran Union. The leaders of the five families who signed the The Purge Covenant and, later, the Fedheran Unity Accords are Sondoeri, Mytheran, Foltorik, Balavian, and Falithi. Their respective territories were Rammarvijk , Hammar, Rhyd, Anivilia, and Fidhern. After centuries of 'cleansing' sprees, only two Descendant families remain: Sonoderi and Mytheran.

Origins

Eith was a man who lived over 2,000 years ago during a difficult time in the history of the world known as the Dark Years. He was part of one of six tribes who took shelter in a cave on the shoulders of the mountain of Ram while great sheets of ice locked them in from either side of the Bezantheram Range. Tired of watching his people starve and die of illness, Eith set out into the coldest and most terrifying winter to find Zetzwarian and make him stop the weather. Zetzwarian spared Eith's life, withdrew the assault of his winter, and taught Eith the ways of Source. Eith returned to his people and passed on everything he had learned from Zetzwarian.

History

The People of the Eith were the first sorcerers. With the power of the Source they travelled far and wide in search of more humans. They found new technologies and build amazing cities. For 1,000 years they ruled the known world, and called themselves "the Pure", but after the The Breaking of Zetzwarian their powers began to take an unprecedented toll on their bodies. This toll is called Corruption.   At the first sign of their weakness, a rebel organization, which would later be called the The Purgers, rose up against them. The Purgers fought against the Puritans for 500 years before the Purge Covenant was created as a peace treaty. It was in this document that the Five Families, Descendant of Eith, promised to dedicate themselves to the Purger's war of sorcery. From that day forward, only the Descendants of Eith would be allowed to use the Source.   The Descendant of Eith were now Source hunters under the command of the Purgers. They ruthlessly tortured and slayed any sorcerer they found who could not trace an unbroken line to the Eith. There was a brief rebellion of the Foltorians against the Purger, but the Purgers came out victorious and the Descendants of Foltorik were eradicated.   The Purgers survived their war against the Gógari for another 100 years. After the Fall of Utopia  their organization dwindled quickly. The Descendants of Eith convened and agreed on the division of what remained of their once great empire. However, the Mytheran House had grown ambitious. They used threats and favours to convince the four remaining Families to accept the Mytherans as the ruling family of the newly formed Fedheran Union.   As Kings, the Mytherans waged war on their fellow Descendants, claiming they were either plotting treason, or not pure enough in their descent. The Falitians fell in bloody conflict or were forced to cede their claim to Source. The Balavians of Anivilia submitted to the Mytherans' every request and were soon bred out of existence. The Sonoderi had already established themselves as religious leaders beneath the crown of Mytheran. They controlled the temples and every artefact of the Great Eith. As long as they did not dispute the rule of Mytherans, they were safe from the slaughter.   The Descendants continued to struggle with the limitations that Corruption put on their use of Source. Children began to die before they could learn to control it and even well-trained and powerful sorcerers eventually succumbed too. They continued to persecute "rogue" sorcerers but the brutality of their punishments dwindled as their population did. With only two Families left, it became harder to keep the line of their descendants unbroken. While they still rule the Fedheran Union, the Descendants know that their days are numbered.
