The Kingdom of Batrya

History of Batrya
To the southeast of the Republic of Nivias is The Kingdom of Batrya Known for its luscious grass and fertile farmland, Batrya is home to a prosperous monarchy (on of the three titan nations of Evadere. The Batryan borders also house the Sea of Harmony (a small sea that carries thousands of trade ships a year. In the northern reaches of the lands is found the capital city of Trimont. Trimont is a sprawling metropolis built upon the Northern delta. Here the Batryan throne resides in a castle overlooking the Frozen Bay.

CAPITOL CITY:

The Batryan throne is found in the northern region of the nation in the capitol city of Trimont. Trimont, a sprawling metropolis, is built atop an enormous delta that flows into The Frigid Bay. The city is built with defense in mind. The castle is located nearest to the shoreline and the city spreads southward creating miles of distance between the front gates and the throne. The shore is protected by a small fleet but truly there lies little threat from the North.

THE BATRYAN CROWN:

The Batryan crown is, by tradition, passed from father to son within the Batryan line. Kings have the right to rule by blood and blood alone, thus one of the most important things a king must do is produce and heir. Ever since the fall of The Marean Theocracy, the Batryan Family have held the throne.

THE SEA OF HARMONY:

The Sea of Harmony is a small sea located with the Batryan territorial lines. This is the largest asset to the kingdom as the sea contains the major trade roots between The Apreoran Republic, Mylana, and the Kingdom of Batrya—which the kingdom taxes. However, the sea is not entirely beneficial to the kingdom. Sailing the waters are pirates (descendants of The Marean Theocracy) who live to spite the kingdom that spurned them. The sea to them is known as the Usurpers Cage and is an unforgiving home. They travel the seas and visit the islands trying constantly to avoid the Batryan navy since piracy, after all, is a crime punishable by death. Rumor has it that somewhere hidden on some island lies a pirate city—where pirates go to drink, relax, and pledge fielty to the Pirate King.

NEIGHBOURING NATIONS:

Batrya is surrounded by several nations—each of which Batrya holds varying degrees of diplomacy with. The Republic of Nivias is quite peaceable with the kingdom as the trade of precious stones for food grown in the fertile soil of Batrya leaves little to be desired. However, the remaining neighbors are not on quite as good of terms. Due to the taxation of trade, both The Apreoran Republic and Mylana have understandable tensions with Batrya. But this is only expounded by their histories.

Batrya, back during the age of The Marean Theocracy, declared war on Mylana and attempted to invade the sacred land of the Elves in what is called the Batryan Holy War. After years of bloody battles, The Marean Church retreated and signed The Mylana Treatise. The treatise has held fast to this day, but Mylana still begrudges the damage done to their sacred land.

The Apreoran Republic was also attacked by Kingdom of Batrya in the Batryan-Apreoran War. Led by King Urtair, The Jealous, Batrya attempted to invade The Apreoran Republic with the intent conquer the southern regions of Evadere and establish a kingdom that would last for aeons. The war raged from 409-415 PA and ended with the death of King Urtair, The Jealous—who was the sole supporter and initiater of the war. The Kingdom of Batrya surrendered and signed The Apreoran Treatise—which promised that Batrya would lower the taxation on Apreoran trade ships traveling on The Sea of Harmony and to never raise taxation without direct consent from the Apreoran government. But still, animosity lingers from the bloodiest war Evadere has ever seen.
