The twin sultanates invasion of Penarsa

In order to reign some prestige for his empire the sultan Abdul 3rd took what wealth the nation had and made an army. they were tasked with taking the state of Penany.

The Conflict

Prelude

abdul 3rd succeeded his father Mohammad 14th as sultan after his death. there empire was a shadow of it former power.  The money that had been needed to fund the war effort had destroyed the economy leaving no money to rebuild the nation. even 60 years later the nation was still lay in ruin. train lines, roads and cities lay in ruin and some were left unfixed as the imprial government couldn't afford to rebuild them.  he thought that the way he could strengthen his nation was to invade the nation of Penany. So Abdul took the funds he had and built an army of 50000 and personally lead them to the boarder. the young Milan 2nd lead The princes own hussars during the campaign.

Deployment

The army was split in 4 prongs. each of 12500. 10000 of regular army and 25000 of the sultans order of magic.   the penay standing army was itself around 100000 men under the personal command of the shah's eldest son mustafa kadeer.

Battlefield

penays deserts were unforgiving. the imperial army although born in the sands of the middle lands hadn't fought a war in the desert for the best part of 5000 years and was ill equipped for such an event. the summers were long and 20 of the imperial army calculates were because of heat exhaustion and dehydration.    the mountains in the north provided security for the, and the campaigning there would be hot and cold with the highest peeks having snow on them all year round.

The Engagement

war begins the northern prong launched its invasion first calming that they had been attacked. followed swiftly by the second. they encountered little resistance for the boarder forces in the north. two day later the two other prongs launched there invasion personally lead by the sultan. they encountered more resistance in the south. the fort of saddy maila the penany army held off the attackers for 4 weeks. the far southern prong pushed west. they were halted at the battle of al kadesh. the penany forces struck first. there cavalry attacked the twin sultanates army head on but was torn apart by canister shot. there infantry was however able to stop continues attack in there track. the Blair commander of the 5th magic order cavalry division Sadeth used his magic to summon creatures forged from the very sand beneath there feet. even though this killed him he turned the tide of the battle.   5YBCW Milan joins the war-the war in the north however had stalled by the start of 5YBCW due to the snows. the northern mountains were filled with irregular bands which harassed the northern army. the war in the north would rage on for most of the war and would engulf half of the entire forces available to the sultan.  as the second year of war began Milan 2nd arrived with 19000 fresh seterchan troops . milan despite being only 19 took control of the southern forces and forced back the penay armys in several battle. by the end of autumn milan had reached the coast and was attacking isolated forts. it was at one of these that zarek (the lover of the women milan loved) died.  however his uncles high command wouldn't allow him to march any further than he already had and he was ordered back to the main theater of fighting. meanwhile shah imran kadeer shah of penay ordered his army's to regroup an initiated a recruitment drive. soon he had a mach larger army. milan argued with the imperial general staff that know was the time but the refused believing that there plan of a wide encirclement would work.   as the war the Penany army were able to beat the sultans army several times. But when the sultan order up reinforcements from Hjez the shah of Penany were forced to withdraw to there capital. The war continued for a couple more years. In the least battle sultan Abdul was shot off his horse and soon died. But even the death of there leader didn’t prevent final victory. The region was taken over entirely and the army had regained some of its pride.
