Commander Julius Nyckel
Youngest child and only son of Agatha Nyckel, the Duchess of Wassund. Had lived an incredibly sheltered life under his mother in the palace, not being allowed to see people, drink nor practice with any weapons. The reason being that when he was born, a priest of Turris told her a prophecy: Julius would become a legendary warrior, strong and famous, but he would die young. Agatha thought to bypass the prophecy by keeping him far away from anything that could lead to that kind of life.
But as his cousin Mercedes with entourage came to visit the palace in Wassund, he got swept up in their world of war and wine and followed them to the front of the war against the rebellion where they were headed. In two months he has gone from never having touched a weapon to being the greatest warrior in the country, and probably in the world.
He is now living in Alldris and is engaged to newly knighted Elize Kindling; his kidnapper, according to his mother. The duchess has pulled out of the war and threatened to use any means to get him back. Mercedes fears that he will die a heroic death any day now.
