Casting of Names

The Casting of Names is a tradition within the Verin Haimarchy held every thousand years or so. It is a rite that pits the highest ranking families (as marked by political influence and land held) against each-other for the right to the Sacred Seal of Sovereignty of the Verin. Other families can veto the involvement of those competing, or bypass fights with votes and offerings to put into power the family of their choosing for the next era.

This, which lead to the Sovereignty of Alephus Mountainsoul, who is widely regarded as the most famous of all Sovereign second to Kyzan himself.

The Ashiman family was so widely loved that they faced almost no opposition in their bid for the Seal.
