Kleppers Lizards Species in Ethnis | World Anvil

Kleppers Lizards

Kleppers Lizards are small, colorful frilled lizards which live in the corralums throughout Yak'koli, stealing eggs and larva from Rutas and making their nests with anything shiny they can find. Of particular despair to the people of Yak'koli, they are especially drawn to jewelry and household novelties, and have learned to be pests about getting into Yak'koli households to steal.

They are as much a novelty as an annoyance to the tourists visiting Yak'koli, who tend to lose cameras and other valuables to the creatures.

Make sure to keep your valuables strapped down and your shinies hidden from view if you're visiting in the summer—that's when the Klepper lizards are making their nests and are most likely to risk life and limb to steal your family heirloom necklace clean off your neck!

Nesting

Kleppers Lizards build mud nests with an oculus bored into the top to let in light to show off the collection of shinies embedded on the wall of their nests.

Sticky Saliva

Kleppers Lizards can spit or excrete large amounts of gluey saliva, which they mix with dust and rocks to form a coarse concrete. They have also been known to eject it at harassers to scare them off. It's quite painful in the eyes.

--Clever Invaders::

With their small sizes and articulate hands, Kleppers lizards can bypass simple latches and get into people's belongings. THe best bet is to use locked containers or elaborate latches, as most Yak'koli windows and doorways have.
