Solimensis City (sohl-lim-men-sis)

Since the Oasis City is the Solimensi capital, it stands to reason it's also a fairly rich city. Additionally, it's the seat of power for the Asolén religion (inasmuch as the Asolén religion has a seat of power, as since Mahzota is the true 'head' of the religion if it ever came down to it, the church is somewhat decentralized, with more than one high priest), and also where the White Palace is located.   This would mean that just as the Oasis City is materially wealthy, it is also a beacon of ethics and morality, because of the two strongest power centers being both aligned and benevolent. This would mean that even the city's poor have decent living accommodations, though it is likely that the city does not have much in the way of available housing, because everyone wants to live there, and the city cannot expand too fast without damaging its ability for self-sustenance.

Infrastructure

The poor of the city probably live in communal housing - well-kept communal housing, in good repair and so forth. It's simply that because of space constraints, it's more efficient to fit more people into one building. The poorest areas probably fit two people to a bedroom at the most crowded, unless there's an emergency shortage - then the limit is raised to allow for as many as necessary to get out of the midday desert heat, while a solution to the sudden crisis is searched for. This would probably be for cases like the unexpected destruction of a building (as they're all made of marble and sandstone, fires are unlikely) and cases of refugees flooding in from another settlement.   Communal housing is probably an array of bedrooms connected to perhaps one bathroom per five bedrooms, with one large living/recreation area, laundering area, and a fair-sized kitchen. The bedrooms themselves are likely small, as people are not expected to spend too much time in them, but still large enough for two people to move comfortably and not be constantly bumping into each other.   The poorest areas likely do not have an indoors laundering area, instead there is an outdoor communal laundering area that makes use of the enchanted aqueducts that caress every building. Since the water is purified by enchantments laden into the stone, a localized area of either no enchantment, or supressed enchantment, allows for the washing of laundry, and then as the water moves away to an enchanted part of the aqueduct, it's purified of all grime and soap and such, so the water supply for irrigation and plumbing isn't even contaminated.   Recreation is probably a lot of reading, studying, training, games of chance, music, and board games. The poor areas cannot afford the enchanted items for more advanced entertainment, but education within the city is free if you live there - the White Palace and Mahzotan church both subsidize the education system within the city, so that retraining and studying for better-paying jobs is always available to even the poorest resident. Residents are given preferential treatment, especially those who were born within the city, as they're the ones who really, really need it.   Visitors are allowed access to the public libraries for free, but much further access to the knowledge held within the Oasis City likely carries fees with it for visitors. As it's likely a popular tourist destination (when war isn't dangerously close to the travel paths or the city itself), richer tourists may pay well for a course or two, and it's likely that once Terra and Vruanhai are connected, there'll be students seeking to study abroad for a while.   Colleges and universities of the Oasis City probably keep all spots reserved for residents first, and then open up spots for visitors and abroad students to attend if there's any leftover after a given period of time.   Orphans are taken in directly by the Mahzotan church, their every need cared for and taught the ways of the church (without forcing conversion - merely providing the information for the children to decide for themselves if the path is right for them), and also taught the ways of many other religions (so that the children have a comprehensive base with which to make their decisions on what ideology to follow or if they want to follow any at all). Adoption is always open, if a child wants to find a family outside of the church, and the process uses a number of non-invasive, but thorough, spells to ensure any prospective adoptive parents are capable of taking appropriate care of any child they seek to adopt.   As the church is also the source of the city's healers, it is the city's healthcare system as well. It does not charge for its services, instead relying off of the donations of the populace and goodwill from suppliers to get the resources it needs and to keep its members fed and housed. Most in the city who can afford to, do donate to the church, simply because the Mahzotan church offers so many services free of charge, and often helps out with humanitarian efforts (ranging from mental health assistance to having clerics assist with construction teams in case of accidents).   Because of the strong sense of community, the poor therefor have very reasonable standards of living, so long as they are not belligerent.   The middle class... Housing is probably still a bit on the small side, simply because of space constraints. The middle class often share a multi-story house, the lower half going to one family (whether it be one person, or the average family of two parents and 2-3 kids) and the upper half going to the other family. In this way, everyone has their space, while also making due with the limits of the city. Bedrooms may have attached bathrooms and are larger, and the arrangement overall more private and more spacious.   It is the upper class that tend to have whole houses to themselves, and only the higher lords who may have larger mansions - the larger properties are also much closer to the palace, as the city has very little urban sprawl and was planned construction from the beginning, though it has grown quite a bit since it was first built.
