Candle Casting

Candle casting is a candle-making method used to make a high quantity of uniform candles quickly. A candle mold often made entirely from metal or a combination of wood and metal is mandatory to use this method. The mold is either used as is and needs to be warmed to remove the candle or is disassemblable to make the process easier. In some cases, the wax is cast into a container like a small cup and left in it so one can use the candle without a candle holder or coaster.

Utility

This method was invented by a chandler in cooperation with a blacksmith to improve the candle-making process in regard to the uniformity and quantity to meet the higher demand.

Manufacturing

  1. Choose a candle mold for the wax casting.
  2. Attach a candle wick with a piece of wax to the bottom of the mold.
  3. Attach a wooden wick holder to the other end of the wick to keep it straight in the pouring process.
  4. Melt a wax block and pour it into the prepared mold.
  5. Let the wax cool on the cooling rack and detach the wooden wick holder.
  6. Depending on the mold type, warm or disassemble it to remove the finished candle from it.
Access & Availability
This is a common candle-making method that allows the chandler to make multiple uniform candles in a short time.
