Leo

Leo is the third planet in the Lux solar system, a vibrant and life-sustaining world known as the cradle of intelligent life. With its diverse biomes, rich ecosystems, and deep cultural history, Leo holds a unique place within the Material Plane. Orbiting around its central star, Lux, and accompanied by its singular moon, Luna, Leo has become a focal point of exploration, civilization, and cosmic significance.

Geography

Leo consists of five major continents, each with its own unique landscapes and environmental conditions.

Aural lies to the east, a fertile land filled with dense forests, vast river networks, and towering mountain ranges. The continent is home to Heartspire, the capital of the Aurelian Empire, which sits at its center. To the east, Aural meets the Aurelian Ocean, providing a rich coastal economy.

West of Aural is Dunelar, a vast desert continent. According to the Magisters, Dunelar was not always a barren wasteland—during the Calamity, an overlap with the Elemental Plane of Fire is believed to have evaporated its water supply. Though largely uninhabited, Dunelar is home to nomadic tribes of exiled rebels who fled from Heartspire after the First Imperial Civil War. A narrow land bridge to the north, known as Dragon’s Tail, connects Dunelar to Aural. Named for its winding, dragon-like shape, this mountain range serves as a natural barrier between the two continents. To the south, a sea separates them.

Further west lies Drakthar, a land of great fertility enriched by two powerful volcanoes, Fiery Mouth and Lonely Flame. These volcanic eruptions have created some of the most nutrient-rich soils in Leo. Near Fiery Mouth stands the city of Drak, founded by exiles who left Heartspire following the First Imperial Civil War. Drakthar is separated from Dunelar by the Sea of Sands, a vast body of water where, nestled in its northeastern expanse, lies a small island housing the Citadel of the Magisters.

The northernmost continent, Frostheir, is a land of harsh permafrost and extreme temperatures. It became the refuge of the Aurelians—loyalists to the Empire’s deposed rulers—who fled north after the Second Imperial Civil War, establishing the Alliance and its capital, Frosthelm.

Finally, Everfrost is the southernmost continent, a frozen expanse similar to Frostheir but devoid of permanent civilization. It remains largely unexplored, save for a solitary Magister Enclave, where scholars conduct isolated studies into arcane mysteries hidden beneath the ice.

Climate and Seasons

Leo’s climate is largely influenced by its position in Lux’s habitable zone and the gravitational pull of Luna. The planet experiences four distinct seasons, each contributing to the rhythm of life and shaping the cultures of its inhabitants.

Luna: The Moon of Leo

Leo’s moon, Luna, is an integral part of the planet’s identity. A silvery orb that dominates the night sky, Luna exerts a powerful gravitational influence, shaping Leo’s tides and stabilizing its axial tilt. Many cultures on Leo revere Luna as a divine entity, associating it with cycles of life, magic, and fate.

Luna’s surface is marked by craters and glowing veins of a mysterious mineral known as Moonglow, which emits a soft, silvery light. This mineral is highly sought after for its magical properties and is believed to be connected to the Eternal Universe’s broader forces.
