History
Heartspire was built upon the ruins of older settlements that once existed in central Aural. When Aure united the various human and elven factions into the Aurelian Empire, he chose this location as his capital due to its central position, natural defenses, and proximity to trade routes. Under his rule, the city flourished, with monumental architecture and extensive infrastructure reinforcing its status as the heart of the empire.
Heartspire has withstood numerous wars, uprisings, and political upheavals over the centuries, but none as devastating as the Second Imperial Civil War (469 AC - 476 AC). During this conflict, Lucian Mordrake, wielding an Eternal Shard, stormed the city and overthrew Aure. The final battle saw Aure’s disintegration in the Imperial Citadel, marking the beginning of Mordrake’s reign.

As the empire’s capital, Heartspire is home to nobles, merchants, scholars, and warriors, all contributing to the city’s thriving yet rigid society. The city is also the center of military operations, with its fortifications, garrisons, and training academies ensuring that the Imperial Legions remain the most formidable force in Leo.
Current State and Future
Under Lucian Mordrake’s rule, Heartspire has become a city under strict control, its every move dictated by the emperor’s will. His rise to power has further cemented the city’s position as the epicenter of imperial strength, though opposition movements continue to stir in secret.
Despite the conflicts and changes in leadership, Heartspire remains the unshaken heart of the Aurelian Empire, a city built to endure the passage of time and the tides of war.
