Council of Illumined Sages

Structure

At its base are the Sopho-Proxenos, elected from each deme (district) of Photeaus based on their proven intellect and contributions to philosophical discourse. These representatives form the bulk of the Council and engage in the initial debates and drafting of laws. Separate from them sit the Strategoi, individuals chosen for their military acumen and understanding of geopolitical strategy, ensuring that all legislation is considered through the lens of national security and foreign policy. Their input often carries significant weight, particularly in matters pertaining to defense and diplomacy. Finally, at the apex of the Council reside the Archon-Semeios, a select group of the most esteemed philosophers and scholars in Photeaus. These individuals are appointed for life based on their unparalleled contributions to Photeasian society and serve as the ultimate arbiters and interpreters of the law. They possess the power to veto legislation, ensuring that all laws align with the foundational principles and philosophical ideals upon which Photeaus was built. This tiered structure, designed to combine democratic representation with the guiding hand of enlightened leadership, ensures that Photeaus is governed by a blend of popular will and profound wisdom.

Public Agenda

Atop their priorities lies the maintenance and expansion of the Grand Library of Oria, a repository of both ancient Hellenic wisdom and lore from their adopted world. Education, therefore, remains paramount, with debates frequently centering on the refinement of philosophical curricula and the funding of arcane research. The Council also dedicates significant resources to bolstering the city-states, fostering trade, and strengthening the Photeasian military, aiming to ensure the safety and security of their people against the dangers lurking within the wildlands. Ethical considerations and adherence to the principles of reason and justice are consistently woven into their deliberations, reflecting the deeply ingrained societal emphasis on virtuous governance.
