Human (HYOO-man)

The dominant race of Esteria, spanning across all of the mainland. This humanoid race is incredibly unique in terms of diversity.

Etymology

The name "Human" stems from the era of slavery, when the Humans were under the yoke of their Ae'dari masters. An old word originating from the Yeicatl word, "Yumann", meaning "Ghost". With time the word evolved into "Human" and became synonymously used as a descriptive word for the race and the race itself.

Evolution

A widely disputed topic, yet most scholars agree that the Human race originated from the nearly-extinct race of Yeicatl. At one point in history, the Yeicatl migrated across Esteria with each group of settlers slowly evolving into their respective races. Humans are believed to be one of the groups settling further inland and away from the original Yeicatl in Sylvanhold. Over time the race evolved to fit the new environment.
In time the race would change from the green skin of the Yeicatl, to a peach skin color. Their skin would gain the ability to further evolve over time as their environment changed, giving the Humans many varying skin colors.

Anatomy

A bipedal humanoid with many similarities to the Dari races. However, unlike the Ae'dari, which evolved to gain their Arcane affinity, they would never gain such power. Though, they do share similar bone structure and muscle groups to the Ae'dari. Like the Ae'dari, Humans have much better hand manipulation than their Yeicatl ancestors, as they feature five fingers on each hand compared to their ancestors four fingers. On average, a Human will grow to the height 175 cm, with many varying body types heavily dependent on environment and diet.
Their appearance is largely different from their ancestors, the Yeicatl. One of the more diverse races on Esteria, with varying skin colors, eye colors, hair colors, height and body types. Their skin color varies from darkest brown to lightest peach, but it is heavily dependent on the environment. In the rarest cases, some Humans are born with an almost pure white skin and red eyes, whether due to evolutional failure or a cursed birth is yet unknown. Their eye colors range from vibrant colors such as green, blue and hazel, but the most common color is brown. Hair colors can be many different types of blonde, brown, red and black. Unlike the Ae'dari or the Il'dari, Humans do not seem to possess the trait to be born with white hair. However, dissimilar to the Dari races, Human hair tends to turn into a greyish white as they age. The cause for this is still unknown, though it is simply believed to be a natural occurance as a Human reaches the end of their life.
