His appearance is unlike that of many Dahlian Dwarves, those that know to look for it can spot his Underdark ancestry. His skin looks rough and grey, and his body has seen better days. He is middle-aged for a Dwarf but he looks closer to death than anyone has any right to at his age.

He remembers very little about life in the Underdark. Once he was brought to the upper world he found a liking to the temple and became a monk's assistant at a young age. The rougher stages of his life took him out of the monastery and out onto the roads where he learned a little bit more about the world and sharpened his survival and combat skills.
