The Immutable Firebrand

The traditional Dwarven military greeting (a closed fist raised to the forehead) some believe was born out of paranoia. The firebrand is a mark of status within the Vulcanite faith, emblazoned upon the individual's forearm as a show of faith and devotion. These individuals possess a connection the faith similar to the Immolates with a much more sinister bent. As the firebrand possesses a deep arcanic connection through the brand that is a series of overlaid Old Dwarven Runes.

The dark connection of Firebrand was cannonized most notably into legend during the Red Commission. When a Dwarf who abandoned their post was summarily hunted down, captured, and branded against her will. However, the brand grew to cover her entire body and with it, an increasing madness.
For their cruelty, she hunted down 5 of the 6 Vizars tasked with her capture and branding. With each, she felt relief and the brand receded and became smaller. Determined to avenge her own suffering she called upon a Gnome who was gifted in dark magics, upon her death it is said that she bestowed the Immutable Firebrand on another. They became blessed with strength, speed, and knowledge; while at the same time being cursed with the unquenchable desire to take Dwarven lives.
