The Devil of Beggarsbourne

Lore:

While primarily a Human city, Beggarsbourne is home to unwanted children of every species. Before Human diplomacy developed into the sophisticated cadre of treaties and compromises that it is in present day, the human culture was a cluster of insular small town with devout governors and tribes. Each culture held rank to Humans based of what they could bring, offer, or supply to the High Table.  With no resources of which to speak, nor cultural capital to leverage, the Tiefling were least among the races in usefulness to Humans.   Beings considered cursed by Valkur for their slights, the Tieflings were believed to be an early tribe of Humans damned to be denied the Sky. As the story goes, The Lost tribe ventured from Beggarsbourne to Mt. Bantam where they appealed to Valkur for deliverance. For twenty days they fasted and prayed with eyes toward the clouds. Upon return to Beggarsbourne the group found the town in near ruin, sacked by a group of Orcs in their absence.  Angered by this they returned to the top of Mt. Bantam seeking to dethrone Valkur, to kill a god. Arriving atop the mountain Valkur sought to punish them for their rebellion, bringing winds that ripped shelter from over their heads, thunder that deafened, and lightning that split open the sky casting them into Æther Veil.  One by one they fell, cursing their descendants to roam through another plain devoid of sky.

Their fall from grace was more occurred on more than just the physical plane. When one falls from the Celestial plane they do not impact the physical plane, falling well past this world and into something other. The Æther Veil greeted them as is the fate of all who fail in the eyes of the God. However one who fell rose again, the first of her kind but not the last to escape.  The Devil of Beggarsbourne. Sulfur and acid in the atmosphere permanently altered her appearance as she clawed her way from the Æther Veil . As she reached the physical plane she swore revenge on Valkur and his followers for eternity.
