Shadefare Orphanage & Academy
History:
The Shadefare Orphanage was once a shining example of the Human egalitarian system. Unfortunately, when the governing principles of the High Table shifted so did funding for sources for the Orphanage. Since its heyday, the orphanage has seen a steady decline in support funding and a steady incline in population across the same period. This led to the wholesale resignation of the staff. The orphanage then fell to volunteers in the city and eventually to no one. Annually, envoys the Golden Eagles, Ashen Savages, The Shimmering Hand, Immolates, and The Dread Obsidians make journeys to Beggarsbourne to "recruit" to individuals to their cause. Though the Dread Obsidians are the most frequent and highest spenders with the Orphanage, in recent years the Genasi and Tabaixi have escalated their spending in Beggarsboure leading many to suspect an impending conflict.Ownership:
The ownership of the orphanage remained in flux until a former resident, now known as Momma Sudfeld returned and purchased the building outright. Forming her roster of guards from the orphans she christened them The Strays. A former working girl, Roxanne Sudfeld worked from the alleys of Nattan Mal to the Canals of Twinnam and garnered somewhat of a cult following that earned her a small fortune. A woman of the night herself, she quickly realized the value of the one thing that Beggarsbourne had too much of...mouths to feed. She promptly transitioned the orphanage to an academy where the children increased their chances of being recruited and contributing to the orphanage. Children are trained in various trades or combat, and those who show an aptitude can garner as much as 300 GP.Architecture
