Crosscreek
History:
One of the few places to safely cross the Red Rise, Crosscreek has made a veritable fortune with no industry, commerce, or production to speak of; instead, their good fortune is entirely due to their fortuitous location. There are three points to cross the Red Rise. The river to the northwest of Nin flows at approximately 6 mph making it nearly impassable. The second river between Evolir and Crosscreek flow at 9 mph making it one of the most lethal passing in all of Espen, colloquially known as Dead Man's Pass. Crosscreek being one the only safe land passages they are known the exact a steep toll for travelers, caravans, and militaries passing through their village. This has been extremely lucrative for the location which prides itself on being a village for leisure given that they don't have to make anything their own food, supplies, or tools. Famous for its cabaret, expansive bar (quite possibly the largest in Espen), and dance hall, Crosscreek has been known to bleed a caravan dry on ale and entertainment.Locations:
The music of The Crossed Keys Cabaret and Dancehall can be heard as the village is approached. A rotating order of bards from a local guild play from dawn till dusk. The cabaret employs 15 changling dancers meaning they can put on a wide variety of shows. The 22 Tavern and Suites is the largest bar in Espen and keeps every conceivable alcoholic beverage and the recipes (that they were able to obtain). Sourcing the materials necessary to keep all beverages on tap requires a consistent influx of ingredients provided by Red Ward Shipping.
