Cordelia Ward's new adventurer's store in Mithrigal has been all the rage lately. One large aspect of their success is sustained reliability, provided by a continuous supply line and warehouse space thanks in no small part to her father's shipping company (Red Ward Shipping Co.), conveniently located Nin.  The free shipping has allowed her to spend her gold on storage, making it easier to keep one of the larger stocks of commonly used items in Espen.
The Black Ward was rebuilt following the first Genasi Rebellions from an old smokehouse that had been in a Genasi family for years. Due to this, the ceilings, walls, and roof were practically black from years of smoke billowing in and around them. The name was both a fitting tribute to the original business and provided useful name recognition, giving her a leg up on the competition. Given the location of the Black Ward, a few blocks from a boar farm, it seemed an awful waste not to reopen the smoker which was quickly reestablished and provided the initial boon to revenue that ensures Cordelia's new venture would live up to the family name.
Cordelia's relationship with Red Ward Shipping Co., and more specifically her father is a bit contentious. As the eldest of 6 children, it was assumed that she was the heir apparent to the Red Ward Shipping Co., with a mind as keen as her fathers and a work ethic that left her 5 brothers in the dust his choice of successor was obvious. Today, the Red Ward Shipping Co., the Black Ward, and their respective owners maintain a mutually beneficial and practical business relationship.
