Elven people (白種, Hakushu)

The Elves (白種, countable 白人 Hakujin, Elves) are a human ethnic group that covers the far north and west of Auslon. They hold the distinction of being the first inhabitants of the continent, having migrated from the west during the last glacial period, approximately 7000 years before the start of the First Age.   These resilient Elves settled in the northern and western reaches of Ausalon, adapting to the diverse climates and landscapes they encountered. Over time, they developed unique cultural practices, languages, and traditions. The Elves' intimate understanding of the land and its resources allowed them to thrive in their new home, forming tight-knit communities and forging bonds with the surrounding environment.   By the beginning of the First Age, the Elves had evolved into a diverse and fragmented society, consisting of numerous major tribes or nations, each with its own distinct language, customs, and cultural practices. Among these, one of the most prominent and recognized groups was the Kōbyakushu, known as the High Elves. They held a special status within Elven society, characterized by their refined manners, deep connection to magic, sophisticated cultural achievements, and service to the Ryuushu, the Dragons.   In contrast to the High Elves, the remaining tribes or nations were generally grouped under the broader term of Low Elves or Wild Elves. These groups encompassed a diverse range of cultures, lifestyles, and beliefs, with each tribe exhibiting unique characteristics shaped by their respective environments and historical developments.   In terms of physical characteristics, the Hakujin, or Elves, exhibit distinct features that set them apart from other ethnic groups. Their name, derived from their pale white skin, serves as a notable descriptor. Additionally, the Elves tend to be shorter in stature compared to the ethnic groups inhabiting more southern regions. This difference in height and limb length contributes to their unique appearance.   Elves typically possess sharp and narrow facial features, including well-defined facial structures such as high cheekbones and angular jawlines. They have straight black hair, which adds to their distinctive appearance. The majority of Elves have dark eye colors, further accentuating their striking facial features.   However, the High Elves deviate from this norm. They display a characteristic blend of red, blue, and violet hues in both their hair and eye colors, setting them apart from other Elven subgroups. This distinguishing feature adds an element of enchantment and mystique to their already captivating appearance.
