The War of the Gods

Upon Shaxzar's betrayal of the Gods the divine scales are thrown out of balance. Countless Gods rise up against the Divine Council, pledging their allegiances to Skaomune, the Emperor of Darkness and leader of the Fallen Lords

The Conflict

Prelude

After millennia of corruption, underhanded deals, and small, underhanded attacks and invasions of planes Celestial and Mortal alike, the Fallen Lords declared all-out war on the Divine Council above.

Deployment

The Gods of the Ancient Vale and the Shattered Realms are constantly at war, each finding ways to 'hurt' each other through the use and manipulation of Their clergy and followers.

Battlefield

The mortals below - the varying races and monsters alike fight each other across the world on various battlefields, spanning the continents.

Outcome

The inhabitants of the land of Erroth have become divided. Often ignoring the strict customs of honour which most uphold, each faction fights to take control and determine the outcome of mortal engagement in the War, engaging in underhanded dealings which can even include assassination attempts on leaders, murders in the streets, and propaganda and fearmongering.
It is not uncommon for fights to break out in cities or across the land in areas where two or more of the three factions collide.

Aftermath

Various cities and towns throughout the world have been invaded and conquered by agents of the factions.
This has created a situation in which some of these locations have become separated from their leaders and rule of law, ruled over instead by one of the three factions, who impose their beliefs strictly upon the denizens.
In these martial states, the faction who preside over it often rule with an iron fist, and most generations who grow up within such areas often know nothing but the hatred and war bred by their leaders and the other factions who routinely attempt to invade and capture the settlements.

Historical Significance

Legacy

The War of the Gods has shaken the Mortal Realm in unimaginable ways. As lesser Gods were slain or cast to the material plane, the mortals gradually became aware of the notion that Gods are not necessarily all-powerful and that those who are can cause immense collateral damage to the planes below.
Towns have been razed, rebuilt and ruined multiple times. Entire species and races have been erased, and now the mortals fight each other as well as the Gods to determine who shall decide the outcome of the War, and who's legacy shall live on.
