Writ

God of Law, Justice, War and Toil

The god of war, justice, order and toil, Writ is depicted normally as a stocky, toned tan Human wearing a suit of shining plate armor. Wielding his intelligent, enchanted hammer Truthbringer, some imagery shows him as a simple blacksmith who forges weapons for the gods, while other glorifies him as a mighty warrior who takes the fight directly to the tyrannical. Writ is worshipped by soldiers, mercenaries, lawmen, and all manners of workers and artisans. Most worship his tenants as truth, justice, hard work and righteousness.   The Church of Writ's history is steeped in conflict. The clergy of Writ are usually professional warriors, constables, lawmen, laborers and architects, though men and women of all professions worship Writ. Any who stand up to tyranny, injustice, and lawlessness serve Writ. and his goals. At the forefront of righteous rebellions, overthrowing of tyrants, defensive wars to save lives, the members of the Church of Writ can be found. His holy symbol is painted on banners for blessings during times of war. His members have been known to have large underground organizations in order to evacuate those in need from areas of turmoil.   It is very common to see the clergy of Writ alongside those of Pith and Fleet to defend the common man together. Clergy of all three of these churches believe strongly in protecting the innocent and often mix together, with the clergy celebrating holidays and temple festivals together.   His temples usually serve dual purposes as a courthouse, barracks, or other place of order. The simple acts of carrying out the law to the fullest, or aiding in the defense of the innocent of a town or city, are considered highest honors to Writ. His priests and warpriests, if they do not hold position in a church faction, usually double as a captain of the guard, judge or sheriff.   The Dawnwalkers are a collection of Writ worshipping clergy, who are essentially a travelling adventurer’s guild that do not take payment in return for their services. They travel the land actively aiding those who are in need. They are so highly respected that simply flashing the badge of a Dawnwalker can earn the complete trust of someone, or a night in an inn with a bowl of food for free. To earn this trust, Dawnwalkers take great care to watch their brethren as closely as they watch for evil outside the faith.   Tenets:
  • Law separates us from the beasts, and those who allow evil.
  • Act honorable in all things, honor upholds virtue.
  • Build the foundations of your ideals on stone, not sand.
  • Seek out and eliminate those who would divide and corrupt civilization.
  • Example sins of Writ include but are not limited too:
  • Slavery, it is a degradation of Honor.
  • Tyranny, it is an abuse of power for one man’s gain.
