Wata

Tall, froglike, yet charming and charismatic, these amphibious humanoids love sharing tales and have a love for trade and shiny things.

Wata are humanoid, froglike folk. They are talented merchants, who have a love for all things shiny and wonderous. They stand about 7 feet tall, and are bipedal, with skin resembling all colors and patterns of frogs and toads. They are also quite long lived, rumored to reach well over 150 years. They are lead by the Great Toad, a large and laid back figure, with a paternal personality. The stories of the Great Toad seem to always describe him smoking a Hookah of unknown herbal orgins, the smoke that rises from it causes illusions that seem to come alive during the various fables he is famous for sharing. These descriptions also align with several folk legends told among sailors that claim froglike beings helping sailors in early history, perhaps even teaching them wayfinding and sailing skills.   Wata once lived in the island chain known now as the White Cloud Republic. They took the early settlers who landed here under there wing, calling them "Taden", a word they use for found children. However, when war broke outbetween the White Cloud islands and the Kingdom of Il Paraonde, the Wata left the Island and sailed west, not wanting to be involved in such a a bloody affair. Wata can sometimes be seen at the port of the Kingdom of Pheia selling wares and trinkets. Rumor has it that it was a Wata that sold Cedric the map of the new world which eventually lead to the events of the Wanderfoot Expetition Company landing in Terra Nova.
