The Feyscar
A location of utmost mystery on the southeastern coastline of the Empire of Uxsager, the Feyscar is a region under constant environmental (tectonic and weather), and elemental/magical flux. The area is filled with a dense forest of trees that cannot seem to determine what season it is, let alone what species they belong to. Many of the plants are freakish mergers that might resemble an oak on one half and a willow tree on the other, but grow needles like a pine, all the while there may be no other tree in the forest that resembles it. Weather changes so often throughout the day that there is no means with which to predict it. An incoming storm cloud that appears to be bringing rain could morph into a brutal blizzard with hurricane force winds only moments after the first rain drops fall, and be sunny again just a few minutes later. The ground, having been subjected to numerous earthquakes on regular occurrence, is unstable and suffers landslides frequently, which can happen even without any saturation of water in the soil. These dry landslides can result in their own odd phenomena where chunks of rock and soil end up defying gravity, floating in the air as long as the pieces are no larger than a house. Most animals avoid this region and usually any that are found by reckless travelers or other bold... or stupid souls are often 'strays' that wandered far enough in to be affected with a loss of their sense of direction or disoriented in other ways. The only permanent residents of the Feyscar are Harpies, which form the largest remaining population of their kind on Erlyse. The forest serves as the perfect deterrent to merchants looking to acquire their egg shells or the occasional fame seeker looking to slay some of their kind for a boost to notoriety.
