The Still Waters

A place to calm the soul, clear the mind, and cleanse the body.

The city of Eva Valoria has a few amenities which are not necessarily standard in other cities, owing to it being the capital of the Rhyliss Empire. Among these is the idea of a building specifically dedicated to having a warm bath in clear water, a luxury few cities think to make room for. And yet Eva Valoria has two such bathhouses, one of which is open to the citizens at nearly all hours of the day. It began not having a name or even being a business of its own, just a luxury accomodation for the nobles in the city. But over the course of decades it became owned by a family interested in making it a special place. It was named "The Still Waters", and rather than catering just to the rich it began opening for any who chose to follow the rules.

Immen Wardwind is the current proprietor, choosing to run The Still Waters with more offerings than would be typical for a bathhouse. The main public pool which can sustain two dozen people comfortably, or twice that uncomfortably. A system for circulating the water through a gnomish filtration system using white sand to remove most impurities allows the water to remain clear and avoid needing to replace the water as often. Side rooms are available with privacy curtains for those seeking a quieter relaxation, with staff available to offer food and wine or other small comforts during the stay. Lastly, there is the Hot Pool, a chamber only recently added which uses an arcane enchantment to heat the water and keep it pure.

Due to Eva Valoria having a central importance to the Empire, various nobles, merchants, and High Lords frequent it as a means of relaxation. This led to it becoming a place to do business other than a noisy tavern or private residence, as it was assumed few people would notice someone simply partaking of the establishment. However, as it became more common for these meetings to happen in the private baths people began to gossip. Nowadays, it is known as a place to meet to discuss serious business - as long as it's not illegal. Immen's staff are very careful to be attentive to the needs of guests, but they also do not hesitate to anonymously tip off the city guard should someone in a private bath discuss matters which are a danger to others.
