Kilean Farrel

During the rise of the Rhyliss Imperium, the worship of the Twelve Gods was starting to solidify into an official pantheon through the influence of the priesthood on the emperor. Parallel to this was the reasoned logic of Kilean Farrel, a high priest of the Eternal Scribe. Kilean wanted to also celebrate the Twelve in a way which would cement them as major parts of Imperial culture. For that, he linked the calendar of lunar cycles to the Twelve and seasons. After many thoughts about the method, the arrangement, and the meaning to everything, the calendar was finished by his estimation.

During a meeting with the other high priests on the Exalted Isle, he presented the calendar along with his notes. For two weeks, deliberation and discussion began to shape the concepts present in the calendar fully. To the current day, many of the concepts remain nearly unaltered. Kilean went to his rest believing he had made Imperial culture better for his efforts.

The Calendar

Associating the Twelve with the seasons, but the order of their listing began coloring perceptions of their relations to each other. Opposing lunar cycles on a wheel of twelve positions would mean either a long-term positive or negative relation, while adjacent positions would mean a short-term intense relation. The "thirteenth moon" was reserved purely for festivals and administrative changes before the next year.

The year was chosen to start off with the Light of Eternity, representing the "dawn of a new day", while it closes out the cycle with the Eternal Scribe who writes down all which has happened in the year in the Scroll of Eons. More active pursuits were weighted into the spring and summer months, with more reflective activites moved to autumn and winter.
