Hin Lodar

Due to the the Dwarves natural desire to mine, Hin Lodar has become incredibly wealthy by exporting excess ores and stone out of the city. This has resulted in a few revolutions when it comes to industry, resulting in better and quicker ways to process ore to refine the metals and even some clever machines to aid in mining. They have a technological edge when it comes to their surface dwelling counterparts, but the technological leap is rather specialized that it has not quite managed to spread from the city. Either that, or the Lodans have decided to keep the technology to themselves.
History
Long ago, before the first kings ruled a great and powerful dragon. This dragon had scales crimson like blood, eyes a burning gold and wings as black as night. Known as Vaestrasz, the dragon ruled over the land, destroying all that opposed him.
Vaestrasz demanded tribute from those he ruled over. Man, elf and dwarf alike, they mattered little to him. What did matter to Vaestrasz was gold, silver, and gems. Any form of riches and treasures, Vaestrasz wanted for himself. After centuries of tribute Vaestrasz, out of nowhere, claimed he was content and retreated into the mountains to fall into a deep, deep slumber. Centuries passed, the first kings had come and gone until a band of dwarves found an entrance into the mountains. There, deep within the mountains, the group found the slumbering Vaestrasz who upon hearing the band of intruders entering his lair awoke and attacked the dwarves.
The battle was hard fought on both sides, but the band of dwarves ended up victorious, although at a heavy cost of life. Those who were left discovered Vaestrasz's hoard was nowhere near as large as the legends had foretold. It was then that the dwarves shone a light agaisnt the walls of the cavern to find them lined with gold ore as far as the eye could see.
The dwarves decided to go and tell their kin, founding the first great mountain city, Hin Lodar.
