Barrowgarde

Barrowgarde was a fortified settlement that guarded the southern region of the Barrowmark . At its peak, it had a population of perhaps 8,000, and possessed a Temple of Tyr  , a small castle, and a dock that housed numerous large pleasure craft for the nobility. It functioned as a collection point for produce, timber and copper ore harvested from the Brass Hills.

Like nearby towns such as Carsgarde, by the early 7th century, it had fallen on hard times. The frontier had long moved to the West, making Barrowgarde redundant. Trade with the local dwarves dried up, causing further economic trouble. During the War of the Three Emperors, the city was sacked by Rhuduar's forces and abandoned. It is said that its population fled in pleasure-craft towards the lake, but that many of them capsized in a freak storm over the Barrowmere.    During the War of the Broken Crypt, the ruin became a rallying point for survivors from Carovin, who fought off a two-pronged undead assault from the crumbling battlements. The battle of Barrowgarde was a decisive victory for the forces of the Empire. For the first time in 100 years, the Hammer of Tyr reappeared in the hands of the great paladin Caspar Edelweiss. But at Barrowgarde, St. Noro - a zealous visionary who had ignited the Western Empire in a tide of fanaticism - fell in battle. The events at Barrowgarde would have great ramifications in the history of the world.
