Hammer of Tyr

The Holmgardian skalds tell of a weapon forged by Tyr himself, a weapon with the power to smite humanity's enemies with every strike: the Hammer of Tyr.   The origins of the Hammer are shrouded in mystery. The dwarves swear that it was a gift to Holm Graelingard, the first Emperor, from the High King of the dwarves. The skalds proclaim that the Hammer was sent as a gift by Tyr himself, while others claim that it has always existed, an artifact as old as creation.    Whatever the case, the Hammer seems to enter the chronicles suddenly in times of great need and disappear for decades or centuries at a time. To the chagrin of the Imperial dynasty, the Hammer has no preference for bloodline, and it has been nearly 200 years since the Hammer was borne by a Graelingard. Instead, the Hammer seems to seek out someone who has overcome great odds, dedicated themselves to humanity, and is fighting a great evil in the name of Tyr. The Hammer then inevitably disappears, often under mysterious circumstances. The one chosen to wield the weapon is known as the Traigor - the Bearer.    Because of the Hammer's great symbolic importance, its bearer must not only be wary of Tyr's enemies, but also those who would covet the weapon for themselves...
