Otto IX

Otto IX, Emperor of The Empire, King of Zenden.   Otto succeeded his father (Otto VIII) as King of Zenden, and then was elected Emperor in Grand Conclave, just as his father and grandfather (Otto VII had been.   Otto's Empress Consort is the Empress Beatrigge. They have three children - Manfred, Archduke of the River, Yolande, Grand Duchess of Erbann and Ermenhild, Queen Consort of Savinn..   Most of the Empire has been at peace during Otto's reign, and he has been generally popular with the nobility. He is less popular with the Church. Heresy has been allowed to spread during his reign, while commercial favours offered to the The Chartered Guilds and the The Free Guilds have often come at the expense of Church interests. Otto did not stand in the way of the Church when Patriarch Leod called for the Triarchist Crusade. On the other hand, Otto made it clear that he would not send Zendenian forces to Sigsland to fight in the crusade. This undeniably made most other powerful nobles reluctant to aid the Crusade.
