Dregangraed
Background
Talons instead of fingers or toes, a snout, and bodies covered with scales. That is the kind of body features you can expect to see if your travels take you far south to Dregangraed the first Dragonborn nation. The first Dragonborn people chose the islands of Maha Atara and Kuda Atara for their home. The ocean would provide seclusion enough so that they can build a safe and prosperous society. They were also close enough to both large continents for them to serve their purpose of protecting the realm and redeeming themselves for the wrongs of their past.
Government
Dregangraed Dragonborn have written laws and a council type of government that has legislative functions. The government is split between several chambers to ensure people are equally represented. Four main pillars of power propose and vote on new laws. Those four being Pillar of Government - Anduva, Pillar of Commerce - Vaṇijyaya, Pillar of Family - Pavule and Pillar of Religion - Agama.
Each of these Pillars has 3 members. Each member has the right to propose a new law or to request the amendment of an already passed law. When a member proposes a law it is presented to their own Pillar first. If two or more members of the Pillar agree the proposition is then considered a Verdict. After this, the proposition is debated by the other Pillars individually and each Pillar presents their final Verdict on the matter. The Verdicts of the pillars are then weighed and the decision applied if 3 or more Pillars are in agreement. If the Verdicts are two in favor and two against, the Verdict of the Pillar of Family is considered most important.
The three members of the Pillar of Government are the oldest member of the royal family, the current highest-ranking military officer, the current custodian of the Pragnava Citadel. For the Pillar of Family three Dragonborn are elected each year to protect the interest of the people. For the Pillar of Religion - the three members are the Agamar of the three most spread religions in the state. Respectively for the Pillar of Commerce the three members elected are the leaders of the three most influential trading guilds in the state.
Society
Dregangraed society is split between the status of Noble and Commoner. Royal family members, government officials, some religious leaders, and some wealthier trade owners. The rest of the citizens are considered commoners.
Dregangraed controls the territories of the islands Maha Atara and Kuda Atara situated in the south Noch Vaser ocean between the two continents Harts and Nishm. The nation's territories are roughly divided into 4 regions. Three of those are on the bigger of the two islands - Maha Atara. The region of Aes dedicated to the nobles, the region of Kathava dedicated to commerce and the commoner district called Dat. The fourth region is called Husmak, it is situated on the smaller island Kuda Atara and is committed to the military.
Economy
Pridean economy is mostly revolving around their wine and glass production, and their metalworking. The nation also has access to Gold and Iron mines. Gold, silver, and copper Regals are adopted as the main trading currency in agreement with the Trading Accords established at the United Summit.
The staple of Pridean agriculture is sheep herding. The island of Maha Atara offers a plentitude of green pastures for extensive husbandry and Dragonborn really appreciate the taste of lamb and mutton. Another major food source for the denizens is fishing and you can find many fishing boats in the shallows surrounding the islands. Spices and seasonings are used in the local cuisine but are mostly acquired from trading. The nation is famous for its winemaking, and various sorts of grapes, blueberries, and cranberries are grown for the purpose.
The industry of Dregangraed is focused around the iron and gold mines in the Palukandu mountain as well as glassblowing. Vaerala is a famous port city where glass craftsmanship attracts customers from all around the world.
Military
The Dregangraed government has a very strict military policy. Every Dragonborn subject must have at least 5 years of military training. The Dregangraed military headquarters is situated on the island of Kuda Atara where Dragonborn are taught how to use their unique breath and are trained in combat. No exceptions are made from this law so even Dregangraed royalties have to go through this mandatory training. After the 5 years of mandatory military training, those who wish to remain in the army stay on the island of Kuda Atara and are enlisted into the Dregangraed army the rest are relieved from duty and have to leave the island and return to society.
Some Dragonborn display abilities of arcane nature during their military training. Such prodigies receive special attention. If they choose to stay in the army after their mandatory five years they are assigned to special units based on their talents and preference and are trained to become part of the Awakened - tactical units who are rumored to have regained their wings and ability to fly similar to their dragon ancestors.
Unique
The Dragonborn of Dregangred have the longlasting burdеn of redeeming their kind from the wrongdoings of their predecessors the Dragons. The Prophecy of the Blessed Races depicts the Dragonborn as the wisdom of Erboren and as such they believe it is their job to protect the realm and serve the gods. Some Dragonborn believe that if they prove themselves worthy the gods will grant them a true dragon form.
In the Dragonborn language the various religions are called Agama and the heads of the religious organizations are called Agamar. Religion plays an important cultural role in Dregangraed but more importantly, it has an important political aspect as well. One of the pillars of power in the Dregangraed Council is the Agama the Pillar of Religion. The three Agamar with the most proven followers are entitled to a place in the council. Only shrines and temples that are blessed by an Agamar are considered holy and open to the general public. Each Dragonborn that visits a holy place lists their name in a register that is later used in a headcount to determine the most popular Agama.
In Dregangraed there is a wide number of religions but the most widely spread ones are Land of the seven , Martyrs of Veghit, Children of Viste and The Turrisar. The religion with most followers in Dregangraed is the Land of the seven which is popular in other parts of Erboren as well. The other three religions are fairly even in terms of followers.
