Sudriheim
Background
Sudriheim is the third dwarven nation that was established following a dwarven expedition south of Vestriheim lead by a dwarven scholar by the name of Duldrick Emberbook. The nation is one of the pioneers in Sea travel and has strong navy traditions. The expedition traveled south from present-day Vestriheim and its goals were more of an academic and exploratory nature rather than military or economic. The crew was comprised mostly of explorers, historians and craftsmen escorted by a small armed unit. The first fort they made upon arriving at Nordrvind Mountain was named Emberfort but it was later renamed to Vindrborg as it became the capital of Sudriheim. Sudriheim was one of the first three nations to join the BRA and as such its officials spend extra effort on maintaining a healthy relationship between all the nations from the alliance
Government
Unlike the other two dwarven nations the government of Sudriheim is a council type. The legislative power is concentrated within a council of artisan guild leaders, master practitioners and scholars called Literati. Atop the council stands an Ember who has the final word on council decisions. If the Ember passes a new one is selected among the Literati.
The laws in Sudriheim are voted on by the Literati but the Ember has the final say. Sudriheim also has a legal system to ensure civil rights while maintaining stability and peace. The order in the state is enforced by state police.
Military
The Sudriheim military has specialized around sea escort and combat. They have strong naval traditions and therefore have some military divisions trained for combat at sea. The Spjotvinr are skilled spear fighters and the Hadrbogverr are a special military division of short bow archers. Sudriheim military is also trained in guerilla warfare as the landscape south of Nordrvind Mountain allows the utilization of that type of strategy.
Economy
Sudriheim economy is balanced around their shipyards and their navy. The nation offers naval transport for various goods. There are multiple lumber enterprises within the nation from which lumber is either traded or used in the shipyards.
Society
Sudriheim is mostly populated by Dwarves but there are Elf and Dragonborn minorities. The capital of Vindrborg is dug into Nordvedr Mountain but the outskirts of the city are situated on the steep slopes of the mountain. Other major cities in Sudriheim are Vestvatnhurd and Austvatnhurd both of which are shipyards and ports with significant importance both economically and politically.
The Sudriheim society is really united and focused around making the most out of the harsh living conditions in the southmost parts of the continent of Hearts. The locals mostly survive off of fishing which is the main food source for the people of Sudriheim. Cultivating plants in these parts is difficult so the natives form hunting parties to provide additional food supplies. Apart from the survival in the cold southmost of the land the citizens are pretty well secured and poverty levels are low.
Unique
Sudriheim was involved in the War for Nishm after Edhelian activists reached out and asked for military assistance. The Sudrigers used their cargo ships to transport military forces from Sudriheim and Dregangraedand and joined the war effort which eventually resulted in a victory setting the foundations for the Blessed Races Alliance.
Sudriheim is part of the founding trifecta for the Blessed Races Alliance. In present days one of the nation's top priorities is to protect the delicate stability of the alliance and a considerable amount of human and financial resources are dedicated to that goal. Sudriheim is investing in all sorts of research and development and is one of the leading nations in the development of sea travel.
