Nordriheim
Background
Upon their creation Dwarves chose to live in one of the hardest environments possible - The Northern white of the Kaldrberg Mountain. They spent hundreds of years of hard work chiseling away at the mountain setting both their history and their future in stone. The able-bodied and hefty dwarven race dug deep into the mountains expanding what at first was sturdy shelters into cavern villages and later into huge underground cities. In the turmoil of present days Nordriheim remains one of the most stable Kingdoms on the Erboren. Their economic and military might plays an important political role and serves as a cornerstone for the currently declining dominance of the Blessed Races Alliance.
Government
The Monarchy in Nordriheim puts the King as a figure with supreme authority in the nation. The King is the only person who can pass laws. Every law is carved into the "Konungord" - a stone slab sitting in the throne room in Valdstad. The two figures second only to the king are the Guildmaster of the Stonemasons Guild called the Master Reidar, and the Jarn-Hammer who is in charge of the Jarn-taka - the king's guard. Jarn-taka along with local militia, are in charge of maintaining peace throughout the kingdom.
Society
Nordriheim was the first nation to establish a monarchic government. The population is mostly concentrated in the four big cities carved inside the Kaldreberg Mountains. Those four cities being - Egelstad, Thiastad, Idistad, and the capital Valdstad. Other smaller dwarven settlements are located around mining endeavors called Reids. Most families provide for themselves by either joining an excavation which is crown supervised and funded or running a business or farm.
The Northern territories of Harts are harsh and unforgiving and Kaldrberg Mountain is one of the hardest places on Erboren to survive. Unsurprisingly the only people that have managed to make a living there are the dwarves of Nordriheim who have worked to tame the harsh environment since days of old. Traveling on the surface of the mountain is difficult and dangerous so the dwarves have dug underground passages that connect the various Reids and settlements.
Economy
The dwarves of Nordriheim have little to no agriculture. The city of Idistad is the only major city in the Kingdom that is not deep within the Kaldrberg Mountains. Instead it is built on the lower ridges in the southern parts of the mountain which allows breeding sheep and goats as livestock. Other than that there are fields of barley and hops used for brewing. The famous "Northern Brew" is a very expensive commodity that is well-known even outside Nordriheim borders.
The rest of the cities are mostly industrially oriented with a focus on mining, smithing, masonry and gem cutting. Kaldrberg Mountains are very rich in different types of ore amongst which are silver, cobalt, antimony and the most precious mithril. Naturally dwarves have honed their skills and their craftsmanship is unsurpassed.Nordriheim has an economy driven by its masonry and stoneworking as well as the numerous master metalworkers. The craftsmanship guilds of Nordriheim receive orders from numerous parties.
Military
There are two things that are taken very seriously by the crown in the Dwarven nation of Nordriheim - digging and fighting. Living in the northmost corners of Erboren means you have to be ready to protect yourself not only from the cold but from all manners of threats. That is why the Nordriheim military force is also crown funded and supervised.
The Dwarven military is comprised of traditionally trained warriors from the four major cities of Nordriheim. In Egalstad are trained the steadfast Hafridar. The heavily armored Skjoldrhird of Thiastad, sturdy and reliable. From the surface city of Idistad come the fierce Ullfrskinn. And in the capital Valdstad are trained the elite King's guard the Jarn-taka.
Unique
The Dwarves of Nordriheim use various metal ore to create armor and weapons of the highest quality. One of the exotic metal ores you can find on Erboren is Antimony, which is used to create armor and shielding that offers thermal resistance. Mythril is used to create light and extremely durable equipment that can withstand the test of battle and time with ease. Cobalt is used for various ornamentation as is silver. The latter two have given Kaldrberg Mountain the nickname White and Blue Mountain.
The dwarves are devoted to their creator the God of Earth - Tet. The religious who have devoted their lives to serving Tet call themselves "Patrons of the Protector". There is a "Patrons of the Protector" temple in every one of the four major cities in Nordriheim. Another prominent religion is "The Land of Seven" which is worshipping the third generation of gods. There are two other deities that are of importance in Nordriheim, one of them is the Goddess of Winter Rind and the other is the God of Crafts Craith but there are no major places of worship for them in the northmost dwarven nation.
