Forest of Whispers

Summary

Located north of Colwyn, in Irkara, there are many legends and rumours surrounding the forest. Generally, people don't venture deep into the forest, because of the taboo of doing so and for fear of upsetting the nature beings that are said to dwell there.

Geography

A large forest, it starts half a days travel north of Colwyn. Along the outskirts of the forest, there is a fairly major trading route heading towards Greling. Along the route, there is a lumber mill, a single one. No one else has been brave or foolish enough to lumber of that forest. Though the operation is relatively small, probably because the heads of the operation wants to minimize the risk of upsetting any nature beings. The forest gets thicker and thicker, the deeper you get into the forest and it transitions from a predominantly pine forest to more of a mixed forest. It's said that in the deepest parts of the forest, it turns into an enchanted leaf forest. Though there is supposedly nobody who can confirm it as no one has been there in recollection.

History

The forest has been left alone for a long time, even since the time the land was part of the Silician Empire. Word is that something happened regarding spirits in the forest and to avoid potential disaster, the Empire outlawed all entry into the forest. Legend has it that there is a powerful dryad who dwells at the centre of the forest, protecting it and all peaceful beings in the forest.
