History
About 1000 years before current events, a wizard thirsty for knowledge found a bed of chaos in the depths next to the current Mentalcastle. He decided to build a Tower of power in that place to satisfy his egotistic desires. It is also said that he made a pact with a great old one to gain even more knowledge, and with this he decided to do good and found the great school of abjuration. Since then, the city has become a large hub for wizards and outcasts from all places.
In recent history, a most notable event was the siege of Mentalcastle, an attempt of the empire of Eshneff'il to invade the Western Alliance . Lead by Eshneff general Eggebracht, the siege was led on two fronts, with the imperial army assaulting the city from the South-East while a large horde of Orc tribes that had been assembled by imperial spies appeared from the north. Luckily, the school of abjuration's efforts along with the help of the group of adventurers that would later come to slay the lich king himself, mounted a valiant defense, and even organized a counter-attack to route the orc host. Two of the most notable events of this battle were the sortie of a cavalry led by the half Orc paladin of Effneki Saruntur, along with the lizardfolk Z'yrrakh Sordelet , the two of which were later described almost as gods of fury and death upon the enemy host, as well as the sabotage of the imperial siege engines by the now Leader of the church of Vurgmnit Dachnu Vinzu. The battle ended in total victory of the western Alliance, causing heavy casualties upon the Eshneff army and the almost total annihilation of the orcish host.

Architecture
The city was entirely constructed through magic, giving it a strange but unique architecture. Every building was made following the imagination of a wizard, and so it is unique.
Geography
Mentalcastle was built upon a plain next to the beaches of the sea. As such, the terrain is flat and easy to see over.
Natural Resources
Though the plains around the city are fertile, it is mostly the strong emanation of chaos that is sapped by the wizards that is taken advantage of.
