Angelhill
The largest city in Cendliand
Angelhill takes up most of the Karael peninsula
Demographics
The demographic of Angelhill is mixed. It's wealthier citizens living closer to the boarder to the magic zone and The Queens Fortress with poorer districts nearer the sea and the docks.
Angelhill attracts a large number of families with children, and the elderly who are beyond the ability to control their magic and as such the boarder between the magic zone and the non-magical portion of the city has a disproportionate number of schools
Government
The city it's self is run by a mayor and elected town council on behalf of the royal family who live in The Queens Fortress part of the time.
History
The original settlement of Angelhill grew up around The Queen’s Fortress to provide support and resources for the Queen’s household. Soon it surpassed Dragonsfell as the largest settlement as more families realised the benefits of sending their wives away during pregnancy, increasing the noble population. As a permanent royal settlement, arts and culture flourished, as did trade. Its location on a peninsula has, however, left it vulnerable to attack, and it has only been in the past few hundred years that the city has grown to encompass most of the available land, swallowing several villages. The villages are remembered in the names of districts and public buildings.
