Session 33: Doing Gods Knows What

Day 38   We arrived at the scribes workshop and were welcomed inside. After telling them about our translation problem we were taken to the owner of the store, who could translate the Orcish in the book for us. While I was waiting for the text to be translated, Fjarldt went around the workshop to look for interesting books. The translation was rather quick as it was done by some kind of magic, but the result did not help much as it was also encoded. I bought myself an empty book to write about Valkiá in, and I also gave Fjarldt some gold to go buy the cheaper book of poems he had found.   After we returned to the inn and put our stuff in our room, we headed out to the big cathedral to see what was going on with my dreams. But on the way we were followed by a dog, which wore a magical necklace of some kind. We later got the necklace identified as half of a pair that enabled a magical bond with the beast, and it had clearly been used to spy on us. But with the necklace removed and Iza to keep the dog company, Fjarldt and I went into the cathedral. We were able to speak with a bishop, but he did not have much useful to say. I also agreed to observe the mass on the next day in the hope that it might trigger something.   Finally I had asked Korbik to prepare the two messages for his children, which I would send out that evening. Both messages were short and sweet, though I did not catch any of the Dwarfish in the messages. I am fairly certain that both messages were received, and in any case Korbik and his wife seemed both happy to have been able to safely deliver a final message and goodbye. Back in the inn we were joined by Balta, who was telling us, though mostly Fjarldt, about a new job she had to go on. Fjarldt agreed to help her prepare and to meet the elder dragonborn who she was working for. While Balta and Fjarldt were in our rooms, doing gods know what, me and Iza contacted Isola to see how she was doing. She seemed to be doing fine, but her message was cut off, so we will have to make contact again some other time.   Day 39   I spent most of the morning writing what I could about Valkia in the book that I had bought. Around midday I went of the mass at the cathedral while Iza and Fjarldt went with Balta. After the rather uneventful mass, I went to the half-orc that had been recommended by the order. There we were a lot more successful at translating and decoding the text in the book. Though it still does not make much sense, as much of the context is missing from the conversations.   When we all met up again, I heard about their visit to Ailtu. After some conversation we decided that we would join Balta and Ailtu if the information from Wilcock seemed insufficient for further pursuit.   Day 40   We got up early to go see Captain Cutter and both explain and further our plans for Wilcock…
