Heavy Carrack

Some may wonder as to how Clearwater was able to remain independent while it sits between the strong military powers of Alteria and Vestonia. In addition to their well funded mercenaries they survived for so long due to their powerful navy. No ship holds as much power in the world than the Clearwater Heavy Carrack. The massive Dreadnoughts of Clearwater stand as the pinnacle of the world's naval power. massive in size and in power, these are no ordinary Carracks. Built for war, the Heavy Carrack has been magically augmented to allow for a heavier ship to outpace all but the swiftest ships.

Propulsion

While most carracks are sailing ships the Heavy carrack utilizes mage to help it attain its high speeds despite its heavy nature. Spells have been inlaid within the hull and sails of the ship to strengthen and cause both wind and water to flow more easily past it. It takes many months for these spells to take hold within the wood of the hull so very few of these ships have ever actually been completed.
A magical device has also been placed near the stern of the ship that propels air at high velocities into the water behind the ship. This takes quite a bit of magical energy and is hard on the structure of the ship and thus is only used when trying to gain every last bit of speed to catch an enemy ship.

Weapons & Armament

The Heavy Carrack is armed to the teeth with 74 cannons, four harpoon ballistae, and two mage decks. The canon are mounted on the port and starboard sides of the ship with 37 on each side. The ballista are split between the bow and stern with two to each. Finally there are two mage decks with one at the stern of the boat and one on the main deck slightly raised up.
