Nandipha
Harbinger of Ends (a.k.a. Nani)
Nandipha is the goddess of death, and queen of Delirium on Eon. She was reincarnated as such when she died as a casualty apart of Ragnarok. Her energy was also scattered and absorbed by the other Divines, displacing her domains and rewriting what she governed over. Nandipha is one of the many Divines who's the child of one - Francine being her mother, coming from a loving relationship with an Danzoran lightwarden who treasured his wife and daughter. He was murdered by a voidseed general, with Nani seeking revenge, albeit it resulted in her death.
Before her death, she married the honor bound god Zioda , with whom she had many, many children with; including the three girls who predicted the fate of their own mother: the Triumphvirate Fates. They waited for their mother to arrive to Delirium when she passed away. With Nani they dictate birth, life and death of mortals, as well as act as avengers for the Divines when mankind steps out of line.
Nani is also behind the existence of the Pallbearers , one of the many species who inhabit Eon.
Divine Domains
Death, reincarnation, cooking, remembrance, respect, spirtiualism
Holy Books & Codes
The Tome of Eternal Rest - A special doctrine that devout priests follow, listing out the doctrines and followings her believer should worship.
Divine Symbols & Sigils
A skull is usually represented for Nani and her sect, sometimes with a halo around it.
Tenets of Faith
- Grief is natural but despairing about death should be avoided.
- Mourn for the dead. Celebrate harder with the living.
- Treasure even the seconds of life, and share that wealth with others, whether or not they're apart of the religion.
- Be attuned to the spiritual nature of the world, as that has the most wealth than even silver can buy.
- Every major holiday should be spent with friends, family or for reprieve - no work is allowed.
- Offer your goddess your material wealth: Animal skulls, metals/ores, fresh soil, flowers (especially lilys), war-related items, silks/sashes
Holidays
All major holidays, especially the ones made by her fellow Divines, are respectively Nani's as well. Work is not allowed on these holidays, which is why it's common for people to recognize them across the board for jobs and schools, and allow for time off. This is especially a sin for a religious faction, and it'ss aid that Nani will inflict a nasty curse onto whomever isn't allowing for their people to rest.
Divine Goals & Aspirations
The goal for Nandipha's sect is to be ready for death but not to be obsessed with it - rather, know that itis coming and use that as a basis to enjoy life to the fullest. Nandipha did not despair even realizing her death was coming, and she made sure to make it a boon of hope rather than despair, for both her family and her followers. By coping with death, it makes life easier, and appreciate the smaller aspects of it as well.
Physical Description
Body Features
Nandipha has a very average body type for a woman - her breasts are just like her mom's where she needs to bind them back because they're very large. She has curvature, and her hips are slightly wide. Her body is far more toned than the other Divine women - the only reason Ursula outpaces her with her toned figure is because once Nani died, she stopped having the ability to work out and gain musculature.
The most defining feature Nani has are the wraith arms that she was given in her passing - a gift to Coraxol so that she could wake up in Delirium and hold the bowl of fruit the aformentioned space goddess gave to her before her boat was pushed off into the river for the departure ritual. Because Corrie had given her her arms, she reincarnated with her arms back - however, the stipulation to this is they're stuck in a weird non-existent yet still existing void where they can pass through mortals. This can allow Nani to reach into someone's soul, or essence, and interact with it (i.e taking it out, reconfiguring, healing, etc.)
Special abilities
Nani has the ability to control time. This carried on even after her death, as an emergency for dire situations or from containing problematic situations in Delirium. Nani can do blinking by manipulating time to make her go faster, as opposed to using lightning or space to blink, given her far more of a better ability to battle. She's also able to reduce anyone to ash by causing them to age to death, or reduce them back to being a baby by reversing the clock.
Nani is also very skilled in spiritual abilities, something that she had learned from the Jötunn after she assisted in helping them redefine their weapons. She can invoke powerful curses, blessings or hexes onto individuals that can carry on for as short as a minute or as long as generations of a family. Her arms used to have Giant tattoos on them, and its said that when she's channeling particularly strong magic, one can see the words appear on her wraith arms still.
Apparel & Accessories
Nani wears a lot of skulls and metals apart of her outfit, as representation of her deceased status. While she's very gothic in her appearance (something she shifted to when she passed, as she was a very colorful woman when she was alive), she loves at least having one color she used to wear frequently - a warm, and inviting, pink. This pink is shown as a highlight with her outfit, such as the silk she wears off of her jewelry or in her hair.
Specialized Equipment
Nandipha, both in living and deceased status, uses a scythe that can cut down any metal and material, while also going through mortal's body to rip souls out. This scythe was a wedding gift from her ex-husband Zioda, for when they became an item. The name of the scythe is called Hatima, meaning "fate" in central Danzoran.
This scythe is extremely durable, being made out of the strongest metal possible on Eon (called zelenite) and enchanted futher with Divine blessing, from each one. The scythe is also full of a time bending voidseed's blood, made of sand, which gives Nani a bit of edge. Because she's the death goddess, Coraxol and Opeitos have given her full access to time bending abilities. While scythes are associated with death in some cultures, the Divine Light religion thinks of the scythe as a means of the end to begin anew, symbolizing rebirth - fitting for the same woman who had the exact same thing happen to her.
Nani is also capable of changing her scythe into 10 other different weapons, which she learned on her own, and is called key-shifting. The fact that she can master that many weapons at once shows there was a reason she was the goddess of war in her life.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Nanidpha was a fierce goddess in her time of being alive, having the domains of hunting, cooking, protection, and war. She was a goddess of honor and got along with everybody, even inspiring confidence in her fellow Divines. Francine had given birth to her and raised her with love fitting for a goddess. However, Nani loved her father's drive and ambition and ended up going down the path of being a righteous woman seeking justice for people unable to defend themselves. She even fell in love with Zioda, and they wedded and had a lot of children who grew up to be fierce warriors like their parents.
At some point, Nani's Fate triplets came to the Divines at a meeting and told them one of them was supposed to die in a great conflict. While everyone expressed disbelief in the prophecy, Nani didn't look surprised and knew right away it was supposed to be her. So she spent the next several years enjoying her life with Zioda and the rest of her Divine family, with Francine growing more concern about the prophecy when she started to realize it was about her as well.
The Divines were at a intense war against the feral voidseeds, specifically their cult in favor of their revered dark lord. They wanted to claim Eon as theirs to offer as sacrifice. Nani was one of the goddesses always fighting in any and all skirmishes, and would be victorious in them. The fighting was fought with the other Divines, until one day everything came to a head when the Great Voidseed War, now known as Ragnarok, started with an intense invasion as an all out attack from the voidseed side.
Nani's battle took her to a voidseed general whom wanted his revenge after the damage Nani had caused him in a previous fight. The general had ripped her arms off during the fight, which was grave pain but she pursued in the fight. Using her mouth to hold her blades, she managed to bisect the general and paid her respects to her father once and for all.
Francine saw her dying, having used her sword in her mouth, but collapsed in her arms. Frannie's healing magic began but Nani was already semi-dead in her arms. With her last strength, she asked her to stop and told her that dying this way was the best wish that a warrior would want to have, and she wouldn't have it any other way. Frannie was sobbing the whole time, but she rocked Nani to her forever sleep, just like she used to when she was a baby, while softly singing to her the lullaby she fondly remember.
Later on, a massive funeral pyre service for all of the casualties in the war, the biggest boat for Nani, was set down the large river of Helholtt. Asteria, sister of Taurus, was instructed to light an arrow on fire, and upon firing, it split into many arrows that ignited all of the boats. It was said that every single living thing on Eon waited with baited breath while the boats traveled down the river, and the arrows that rained down looked like the heavens crying.
Nani passed on but she ended up reincarnating as the goddess of death and sacrifice. As such, she is the queen of Delirium, the afterlife that everyone on Eon goes to after death. Only people who have shown immense dedication, and shown character can pass onto Asgard, where the Convocation of the Divines is located.
Nani watches over the souls and directly is involved with reincarnating people on Eon so that they may learn from their past mistakes.
It is said that when Nani steps place on Eon, when the barrier between life and death is at it's weakest, that is when winter starts and all life begans to slow to a crawl. It isn't until she returns to her throne down below that Zioda introduces spring and life may resume once more.
Gender Identity
Nani identifies as female. While she can shapeshift like her Divine family, she chooses not to and is comfortable in her body.
Sexuality
Nani is bisexual and likes both men and women.
Education
Despite Nani growing up a fierce warriors with a penchant to fight, she had a lot of intelligence, thanks to Coraxol and Francine's own smarts rubbing off on her. Nani enjoys studying the art of fighting and her "street" smarts are higher than her book smarts in that regard.
Accomplishments & Achievements
- Introduced pallbearers to Eon, as a means of keeping the dead safe and helping to ferry their souls across the Aegis river in Delirium.
- Single handedly killed a general in charge of the invasion, even at the cost of her life.
- Introduced cooking and make it possible for mortals to enjoy meals, which spread throughout the planet.
Mental Trauma
As with the other Divines, Nani has gone through her own fair share of mental trauma. Technically as an undead now, while it doesn't matter to her with her after life, sometimes it's a harrowing experiencing recalling what happened when she was alive:
- Having her arms eaten in front of her by the voidseed general during Ragnarok. She then had to take up one of her blades in her mouth and kill him using only that and her magic, which she forced herself on how to cast without using hands.
- Seeing people drown in the Aegis river, which ferries new arrivals to Delirium. People who drown in the river have no hope of having a peaceful afterlife and will become lost to oblivion.
- Watching her own children die, both during and after the war.
- Realizing that her marriage with Zioda was nullified.
Morality & Philosophy
Nandipha believes that everything will always come to an end, and that isn't necessarily a bad thing. This came from her accepting early on that she was going to die.
Having that resolution carried her through the battles she had with bravery not unseen by the other Divines. Nani has always been the one to face things head on, and she still goes by this mantra, even being deceased. Having that courage to tackle on challenges, even with knowing one of the possible outcomes, is what life is all about and it makes life a very precious and wonderful thing. This kind of mindset also inspired her followers to live their live to the fullest by doing everything that they enjoy and making sure to spread that joy - while also remaining very devouted to the end, regardless of the outcome.
Nani's morality is very white, as she believes in justice and honor, and protecting the weak. She never backed down from her feelings on this as well, still quoting herself to comfort the deceased when they first arrive to Delirium.
