Goldfield

Built on floating islands above a dangerous swamp, Goldfield is the home of master craftsmen in the field of innovation.

Culture

All of Goldfield is centered on one thing: innovation. Craftsmen of all sorts flock to Goldfield, despite its dangers, in order to master the art of creation. The people here have aspirations as high as the islands they live on, and the majority of people strive to make Goldfield- and specifically Goldfield- a better place. Goldies tend to be remarkably nationalistic, and although they engage trade with outside nations, they sequester their most prized inventions for themselves. Airship are the prized creation of Goldfield, and the people hold their creation in high regard. Becoming an airship mechanic is a coveted job saved for only the best craftsmen.   Do not mistake Goldfield's innovation for creativity of all kinds. The people here generally view art as a waste of time, preferring instead to focus their efforts on "actually useful" gadgets. Artists are often looked down upon, and while embellishments to finalized projects are fine, function is vastly more important than form.
